Since the suggestions link is closed down for now, I figured this was the second best place to stick this. Its a fairly simple suggestion.
Theres a good number of us (im guessing) That often visit various popular games. WoW, Starcraft, CounterStrike, SecondLife, Final Fantasy XII, and various MUCKS. (FurryMUCK, Faibanx, Voregotten Realm just to name two)
While there are contact listings for email and the major instant messagers, Some people like meeting new people in different ways, Such as in one of these games where the attention isn't solely stuck on them. That can let off enough pressure for people that they'd feel more comfortable meeting new people.
Im suggesting an addition to the Contact Detail's area. A few new listings from some of these major games so people can allow others to see who they are in them and possibly find new friends or teammates. As well as three or four 'blank' contact areas where people can enter the names of their own games, messangers, or MUCKS along with their character names beside them. So its not just limited to what I or the FA Admin can think of.

Sounds good to me, although the only "game" I've ever entered was Furcadia. Don't let my dullness stop ya, it's a worthwhile feature I think.

Well, that's also why we have a suggestion forum on the boards. :)

That would have made too much sense. :P

Well, I've been thinking about this over the day. There are too many ways to contact people over the net, so I think it'd be beneficial to change the contact system to offer drop down menus for contacts.
For gaming, we could add "Xbox Gamer Tag" and "X-fire" to the list since they're gamer contacts.

I think you'd still have to be careful since this kind of thing could become a relatively long list. I suppose the drop down menu could have "other", but you might end up inundating yourself with too many things in the end.

Well, not really. There are only a handful of IM applications.
MSN
AIM
ICQ
X-fire
Xbox Live
Two or three more at most, maybe.

Thats why I suggested afew 'blank' sections where people can add in their own contacts and names for them.
We could add in some of the majoraly known games and such, SecondLife, Furcadia, FurryMUCK. And/or three or four sections where people can type in a blank the name of a game/program or such and their character/SN on that program.

I like the idea. Sounds interesting. The only games I've really ever played to extent though Is CoH/CoV and Star Wars Galaxies, but yeah the concept is interesting.
And there's one other messenger out there, IMVU

Rather than try and make a field for each popular game, maybe just a "Gaming contacts" field, where the user can list for themselves which games they play and the contacts for such. :3

Thats what Im saying. There could be a few added slots specifically for commonly known games such as Furcadia or SecondLife. As well as some blanks for people to add in their own games and their name in'em
