View Full Version : Please do not use "free" with the word "commission"

Commission has a different meaning in the art world where it is a paid request.

Using "free commission" makes other people unfamiliar with the terminology mix it up.

Ex. people messaging you if you take commissions.

You say yes...and then they have some idea of thinking it's free and get mad at you.

If you're doing stuff for free, try the word "Request" instead. It would make a lot of artists grateful.

Anyway yeah, totally agree, I've always gotten a guilty chuckle outta the stooges calling commisions free.
