White/FA Is Temporarily Offline Screens
"White screens" are caused by your web browser not set to download the latest version of the site from the server. This can be resolved by simply pressing CTRL-F5 to force your browser to clear it's cache and re-download a new copy. This works in all browsers.

Login Problems
If you login to Fur Affinity and your account instantly reverts back to Guest, this can be the cause of one of several things

More than likely your computer time and date are off. Make SURE your computer's date is accurate and current. This is the number one cause of any login issues on Fur Affinity.
A copy of the cookie in the browser cache may have been corrupted. Open your browser and clear its cookies and cache and try to reload the page again.

I have a problem with my favorites list, in my profile when i click on the link to my favorites they all show up but when i go onto my user page only three of them are listed making it seem like i have less favorites than i actually have.
This is probably because the "view adult artwork" switch in your control panel was set to "No". Re-enable it, and don't forget to re-input your password in the verification field below the page to accept the changes.

Apparently since the last time Fur affinity was down, it either screwed me up or the front page just decided to become non-existent. I ALWAYS get the "Fur Affinity will return shortly" page. But, when I get on the site status forums it says that FA is back up.

This is probably because the "offline" page is being cached in your browser.

All you need to do to solve this problem is hold down CTRL and then hit F5 whenever you see this screen. It'll refresh your page and clear the cache.

My Message Center home box shows one Submission, but when I click on it, the resulting page tells me it can't list any. What could be causing this?
Is view mature artwork set to enabled?

It could be that someone on your watchlist has submitted some mature/adult work but you cannot see it because of not viewing mature artwork I belive. Or someone on your watchlist could have submitted something, but then deleted it.

Additionally you can also try removing any new notification message to have the counters for it to automatically re-sync.
"Select all" -> "Mark as read" will not work if you are not actually removing a notification message of the type which shows a wrong count.

I've recently formatted my computer and lost my password to my account..
If someone has a minute, I'd love some help resetting it.

First of all, please give the password reset system (http://www.furaffinity.net/lm/lostpw/) a try.
It will send you an email with the instructions you should follow.
That works in 95% of all cases. If it doesn't, check your junk email folder.

If you are one among those remaining 5%, you could alternatively contact any administrator on FurAffinity and request for a manual password reset. But be prepared to supply sufficient enough proof that the account you want the password to be reset for actually belongs to you.
Most typically this involves sending yet another email to the email-addy you signed up to FA with, but this time by hand.

Every time I try to add someone to my watchlist, it doesn't take. I click the "+ Watch" link on someone's profile, the page refreshes, but they're not added. I've tried several times with different people and it still doesn't work. How can I fix this problem?

Thanks,
Chinchilla_man

Your watch actually gets added, and the system redirects you back to the userpage. Only your browser decides to display the page from it's cache instead of fetching a fresh copy of it from FA's server. If you hard refresh the page (CTRL+F5), you will see the actual page.

FA is sending proper Expires and other cache control headers with it's pages, which are set to "do not cache under any circumstance" value. Only some browsers and some setups of local networking ignore these server supplied headers. There is nothing we can do in this case ad the source of the problem is on the user's end. It's either because of the misconfigured router or a proxy, misconfigured or genetically brainded browser.

Got a question. Why wont the Display Name under Account Settings display on my profile? Is there something that would make it do this or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
Gala.

How do I view comments on FA's main page?

When I go into the message center, it gives me a bunch of ways to nuke a comment, but no way to actually view it!

[Edit] Found it...

If no errors are shown then your old avatar is still in your browser's cache. Clear that cache and you should see it.

You can try to change it again, if this fails hit CTRL + F5 and this should make it appear as what you wanted it to.

I've been trying to login for quite some time now but it keeps giving a message saying: "You have typed in an erronous username or password, please try again...".

However the date and time on my computer are correct, and I have changed my password a couple of times, and I keep re-typing it in, but it still won't work.
Is there something I'm doing wrong maybe? Any help would be appreciated. :???:

To build on this: For the last few days every time I upload an image it loads for a long time, five to ten minutes. After that, I get "504 Gateway Time-out"

I understand once or twice, but this is three, almost four days running.

Music or flash or image and follow the on screen instructions.

This can be due to a heavy load to the server, this can be commonly caused by huge amounts of users, uploading at the same time, it can also be done by a lagging script or a conflict.

This might help your problem Vixenrath,

Clear your cache:

Internet Explorer = Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History > Delete > Delete Cookies And Temporary Files
FireFox = Unknown, could some one else help on this one
Safari = Edit > Empty Cache.

You can also hard refresh after clearing your cache by CTRL and F5 this should help

Hey Montezuma Revenge, this could have been caused by a large influx of people to the site as the site showed a not responding message, the site works ok for me and thats whilst I'm typing this message.

In future if it happens again, give it some time, about half hour and try again, usually just a common error.

Hope this helps..

When you receive 504 Gateway Timeout errors when uploading an MP3...

Re-encode your MP3 to the following kbps (included with percent chance of upload failing)

192kbps - 60% chance of failing
160kbps - 50% chance of failing
128kbps - 30% chance of failing if song is less than five minutes
112kbps - 20% chance of failing, but noticeable quality loss

So 128kbps is recommended for MP3s.
