Anti-aging has been proven possible in lab mice

Here is yet another bullet for the gun of Atheism...If you hadn't heard already, scientists genetically bred mice in a laboratory so that their cells did not contain telomeres (special end-caps in all of our cells that line up the DNA for division. As they degrade over time the DNA becomes less perfect and that is what aging equates to). As a result the mice aged incredibly fast into "old age" without having these micro-aligners in their cells. The scientists then injected engineered bacteria in the mice to deliver new and fresh telomeres to all of the cells in their bodies. The result to the amazement of humanity, the mice visibly and actually grew younger as their cells were reverted back to cycle 0. Unfortunately, the mice were much more prone to cancer after this--Not all the bugs are worked out yet, but when they are that whole age problem will be taken care of.

Hopefully it'll eventually become inexpensive. Virtual immortality would almost bring reprodution to a stand still because what would be the need? Not only that, it might help reduce the population a bit.

the problem with that idea is that the urge to reproduce has been around since abiogenesis-- life itself didn't exist then. you'd need to set up a supression field (HL2 anyone?). then there's government corruption. the government could easily manipulate this to their advantage so only selected people could reverse aging and unpeople could have their kids' end caps destroyed. game over, free society.
