Yup, and the weight maps for it and all sorts of shit. Render time depends mainly on lighting or other computation-intensive effects like caustics and radiosity. If I go for full radiosity, it can be well over a day, but by faking it with some plugins I can get it down to ~5 minutes. It's not as accurate or realistic, but it's good enough.

It takes tiiiiiime to create something this sexybeautiful, man.

3D is great for animation and model re-use (plus awesome lighting and transparency and shit), but takes soooo long to get anything that actually looks good. You have to make everything 3/4 times; model it, texture it, rig it, add some morphs, bump maps, UVs...
