Even if you think he might disapprove of furry, as a whole, that doesn't mean he'll just drop you like nothing.

My fiance hates furry. He knew I was furry shortly after we started dating.
We're still together.
It's not a big deal, and while he does tease me about it here and there, it's not out of malice.

Just don't be obnoxious and overly obsessive about it.

First of all there is nothing sad or pathetic about being 18 and finally having your first boy-friend. Personally (and this is my own opinion but I don't see a reason for people to even need to be dating in the teen years)

Secondly, don't have a coming out of being furry. It's a hobby. Treat it like a hobby. There is no reason to "Have a coming out" to your boyfriend. Being furry is not a sexuality. It's not an orientation. Don't treat it as such.

He did ask about the whole "Species is a Cowfox" thing, and I told him flat out that it's my persona. I didn't use the word fursona, don't ask why it was a reflex I guess. And he just smiled and said "okay". He's also read a few of my webcomics and says he really enjoys them.

So either I'm dealing with an awesome guy that gets the whole furry thing without a problem, a guy that doesn't know and is just going along with it, or a guy that secretly knows and dissaproves.

Yeah, it went surprisingly smooth when I started using the word "furry" around him. I even showed him my FA account when I started checking it around him. Right now, he sees furries as just fans of animal cartoons. He even knows about Anthrocon!

Just to clear a few things anyway, when I said that I was afraid of telling him, I didn't mean that I wanted to start wearing collars and cat ears around him. The reason I wanted him to know is that we live close to Anthrocon and I want to go, I also wanted him to know about the kinds of art I do. Say you are going to an anthro convention or you are raiding furry forums of the sort.He will ask for the defenition of the term.You will explain.He will be suprised.
Convience him that it's fun and he will enjoy the "wild" ride while watching hentai.

Yes, I know that being a furry isn't the same as having a different sexual orientation. My furryness usually stays on the internet but it also pops up a lot in my sketchbook, which he would be exposed to a lot in the future. I also do a half-assed webcomic and would like to include him as a character. All this, and the fact that we live in downtown Pittsburgh and I'm planning on attenting Anthrocon next time it rolls around, are the main reasons why I want to tell him.

This isn't a case where I could probably just keep it a secret from him. No, I'm not planning on telling him in the next few days. I want to spend more time with him and see more of what kind of a person he is.

But I digress... How would you tell someone about the furry fandom without making an ass of yourself?

Well unalike Most male furries most ladies get off scot free often (males get assumed to be pervs women assumed to be cute when furries I notice), as I know a few guys who find the prospect adorable, a plus even, just when you two are confterble bring it up casually and calmly. Don't be dramatic about it just make it seem like a side note the bigger deal you make of it the more chance the guy may worry its not like coming out of the closet to fundamentalist parents, its more of a "hey I have this hobby"
