Wow it's been a while since I've been on here!

I was wondering if a few of you could help me out. I have a paper due for my "Game On" class this coming December. The class is devoted to studying the culture around video games and the communities and art they create. For our final we can write about pretty much anything and I wanted to write about those in second life who prefer to identify themselves as furries.

I will refer to you only by your alias here on the forums (unless you specify otherwise: I can keep you anonymous) This essay is not meant to scrutinize but to rather inform my classmates about your experience in the game as a furry - whether that be good or bad.

1. I'm a tiger,because foxes are far too common,and you'll usually find me hanging out at places like the shelter or gyc.

2. I heard about SL on another message board when someone mentioned it.

3. I belong to the furry community in it.

4. I like the fact that i can make stuff in Blender and import them into Second Life and sell them.

5. I try to stay away from griefer hangouts like Waterhead and Ahern,and most human sims.

IT was not made to be funny silly. It was made as an honest warning SL tends to polarize allot of users and it gets tense at times, I am just letting you know. I have no hate for you and this game/social network.

I don't play it but an online adequateness of mine does. Lemme see if I can answer your questions based on what he has said:


1. What species are you in Second Life? What is your avatar like?
He plays as a Naga, but claims to be a furry.
2. How did you hear about Second Life and it's furry community?
Not sure how he heard about the game, but he knows his way around the internet so to speak. The game seems fairly popular.
3. Do you belong to a particular community within the game? If so, why? If not, why?
He hangs out in the "adult" areas of the game. Some place called Hentai High. It all sounds so silly...Most of his stories disgust me, and as a typical furry (:P) he doesn't catch on to my discomfort and keeps talking and talking and talking.
4. What do you like about the game?
He drones on and on about all the people he knows and the shenanigans they pull. He seems to really enjoy the community, and talks about many different people in his social group. He also enjoys eating people, which leads me to believe he likes the vore.
5. Are other players hostile or supportive toward your appearance?
Supportive if what he says holds truth. He seems to be quite the popular person, and he has mentioned getting compliments on choosing a Naga style avatar. He said something about having a family in Second Life, so he is either well liked within a specific clique or he stumbled upon some people with very odd fetishes.


Perhaps it isn't what you want, but I'm bored :V I also envy the hell out of you for taking a class on video game culture. Lucky you :3

Anyway, I started secondlife as a hyena, then dryeena, currently building a ratteguhn fursona for it..

joined 3 years ago. disappeared for the longest while.

someone told me I can actually make money on it again, so I'ma go and try to do that

I might. Im not the best writer but I'll post some of it for sure. Also I'll post some pics of the presentation. Im not sure what Im going to do. I might draw my fursona and present her to the class or something. Or maybe even join SL!

I use the Greenlife Emerald(Emerald) viewer.

It's better than the default linden client.

One's a bat chick/dude. Its sort of closer to a kemonomimi than a full-on anthro.
Its got the wings, the ears, the nose, the fangs, but the rest of its human.
Also the female one has satyr legs.

To be honest, I very barely remember. I started in 2004, I think, and I was just bored and reading about cyberpunk.

A couple of them. Mostly for coordinating group discussions. Also for retarded titles. I usually hang out in cyberpunk sims (because I really love that SL is littered with dystopias).

Open-ended building. Its completely ridiculous how customizable the world is.

Most are really curious and talk to me about it. More often than not, people just think I'm a Neko with really screwed up ideas, less so a furry.

1. She's a black cat anthro. She has a cat head with sunglasses and black hair, a black human-shaped body with clothing, hand paws, a tail, and feet paws.
Sometimes she has wings, and sometimes she doesn't.

2. I heard about Second Life during a documentary about the game on TV. I heard about the furry community on it through Encyclopedia Dramatica.

3. No. I have too many varying interests, and too much of a real life, to devote too much into the fictional world.

4. I like building stuff. I like walking around in some neater areas. I like listening to streaming music in some of the dance clubs.

5. One small group said I wasn't "furry enough" once, because I have a human body for my avatar. Most users don't say much or anything about it, though.

A red dragon. I think this sums up what he's like.

Um. Heard about it from a friend. Not really in the whole furry SL community. I just hang out with friends usually.

Yes, I do. We share common interests. Plus, a friend is also part of it.

4. What do you like about the game?
Being able to build things. Pretty fun at times. And exploring new places.

5. Are other players hostile or supportive toward your appearance?
lol. They actually think it's pretty cool. Haven't gotten any complaints about it yet. XD
