Of course, they're all independent ladies probably around their 20's in human years, but how come their parents don't show up aside from (mostly) flashbacks... not to mention Rairty, who seems to have been living in that studio of hers since she was filly.

5 bucks Twilight's parents won't show up at the wedding, even if it'd make perfect sense for them to.

Anime in general is really bad about this, period. Even slice-of-lifes avoid presenting full families for the most part. On one hand, there's no need to show them, but it does make you wonder about the characters' backgrounds a little bit. Considering the current trends, a show like the first Digimon, where family members also play a key role in the character development, could be seen as refreshing solely for that aspect (it's still pretty good, but that only adds to its overall quality).
