Onto other news, The Pastoral Symphony segment from Fantasia is awful even without Sunflower. The only good bits are the four Gods that appear last, the backgrounds and Bacchus's donkey, everything else is sugary, kitschy, substanceless, corny and forgettable, especially since it comes after the intense Rite of Spring and a pause.

Well on the topic of gayness, this year the glbt community is beginning to be used as a rallying point politically. Sounds bad, but in the end it'll benefit the gblt community far more than the democrats will. Since Obama is getting re-elected anyhow I'm all for being used as a political tool this year, cause it'll profit me more than politicians.
They really put a pastoral after Rite of Spring? What was Disney thinking? I've never been a big fan of really lighthearted classical though. Guess that's why Shostakovitch and I get along :V
It's actually fantastic to see the momentum collecting behind the LGBT movement. With Prop 8 still in consideration, this could be a major turning point pretty soon.

Anyway, speaking of the Pastoral Symphony...
I played this over Tangled's "Kingdom Dance" scene. Surprises, surprises, it actually almost fits the entire sequence, beat by beat.
@Bando: Walt actually gave a lot of freedom to his artists in Fantasia. I'm almost sure he meant that short to be a break from the escalating dramatism, but it's almost too sudden and snooze-inducing for being a simplistic and insipid set of vignetes with forcedly-cute things and lovey-dovey centaur couples. Not exactly what you want to see after dinosaurs.
