Oh-KAY! I think we should all sit down and enjoy a nice, hot cup of Coffee, and be civilized about all this.
What do you say?
I do not like the show.
I do not want to hear about it in a positive context.
I don't even want to hear about it in a negative context.
I want it to just fucking get away and out of my face. I hate the fact that the show is constantly a thing everywhere I go, be people celebrating it or dissing it.
I don't have a "side". I just don't want one fucking little girl's show being in my face everywhere I go, presented in a million different flavours while I don't care about who likes it and who doesn't. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.
All I have to do is say that I don't like the damn show and I don't want to watch it, and then there is a reaction. People tell me I'm wrong, and they sperge out and demand that I watch several episodes, and constantly try to convince me to do so. Why? You never see me burning people when they say they don't like Rammstein, right? People have their own personal likes and dislikes and normal people tend to respect that. As this thread has proved, bronies absolutely do not. The majority of "anti-bronies" in this thread have explicitly stated that they don't mind if bronies like the show, they respect that. The majority of bronies have yet to treat the other side with the same respect.
You even just lumped me in with the haters with "your side". It's appalling how quick you were to point a finger and say OMG HAETUR despite me trying to be reasonable and fair for both sides. You didn't reason, you just cried bloody murder. This managed to prove Mentova's point even further, and it's another reason why bronies are "hated".
...And is this remotely any sort of defense for the behavior of yourself or others in this context?
If you believe so, DO TELL YOUR NO DOUBT FLAWLESS LOG- no you aren't even going to claim it as flawless logic, you're just going to say "I HAVE NO LOGIC BUT WILL CONTINUE TO ARGUE" again, aren't you? Just like you've done before.
This is ridiculous.
Yeah... I basically sum it to I like the show, it's cute, it's not worth obsessing my life over and I hate the rabid fandom because I hate all rabid fandoms- both anti and pro. If I wanted to deal with people bitching and squabbling over dumb shit like a bunch of children I'd go to a schoolyard. People need to lay off each other for everything... from bitching at the people who like the show and berating them for liking it- and on the other foot force feeding everyone around them and bashing it into the other sides face every second. God KNOWS I can't stand when people do that to me about ANYTHING. S'all about respect, yo.
That's cause it happened back in the day, whenever a fandom goes mainstream it booms and then plateaus and then nobody gives a shit anymore. Also I have had pokefans bitch at me for not liking the latest generations.
Video gamers constantly bitch about other video games.
I've had weaboos bitch at me for no longer being one.
I've had trekkies bitch at me for liking both the original and next generation.
My sister is a twihard and good god almighty does she constantly bitch about how I hate it and threw her shit when I didn't want to watch a marathon once.
Actually my point can best be summarized as, "stop trying to grab the highground people, it's fucking ridiculous"
Also sorry I lumped Gibby together with anti-bronies, but in all fairness mentova and a couple other guys were doing the same in reverse earlier. Hell this entire thread was just made cause Mentova over-reacted to how I said he doesn't have a sense of humor in another thread.
It certainly is a lot of irritated finger-pointing in here. Looks like we've all lost perspective.
That being said, a friend of mine is into it. He brought it up to us one day, we said we're not fans of it. He's never brought it up since. I saw a figurine of one of the characters on his pack a couple weeks back, and considered ribbing him for it but let it be.
Perhaps the internet makes things seem more prevalent than they are.

Accusing others of bestiality is against the rules.
Xaerun does it anyway.
Seriously when are you guys going to release the code of conduct? Or does becoming a mod automatically void you of having to follow the rules?
What I meant is look on Fa on the users with the top views, porn, porn and more porn.
Goodness no, I was talking more about the porn and sexualisation of/inside the fandom. As in, the porn of cartoon feral horses. I wasn't accusing any user here of bestiality.
Admin CoC is due for a release in a month, Valve time. I could go for a whole thread about how I don't think publicly releasing one is at all necessary but here's hardly the place.

Why don't the bronies... I don't know, leave this thread and post in the megathread? We usually get along really well there.![]()
Maybe the non bronies could... stop looking here if they're becoming frustrated by how the thread is going?
I shit you not, this is why mods don't lock these threads. It. Is. Hilarious.![]()

Impulsive the youth, it drives them to prove they know what's better.
But we know the truth, the wisdom is proof it comes much later.
Falling down is a pain that's earned. Knowing now, it was all lessons learned.
For a virtuous world.
I suggested that the thread be closed and Mentova posing the question in the MLP megathread, on the first page.
Care to take a chance and tempt fate?

Several groups have boomed in fanbase (if not developed their fanbase) within the last 13 years. If your example held, I should be able to go to the earlier-mentioned forum and point out similar "Sense of Entitlement", "Demand of rule change for fandom-specific porn", "Flooding of threads", etcetera. Oddly, I cannot.
Yes, and they don't claim persecution because someone says they think Combat Evolved is nice, but like Metroid Prime better.
You do realize that by comparing MLP to notoriously bad fandoms (Twilight, Furry, etcetera), you're not helping your case?
And Gibby's point is that he said a single sentence and at least three people have exploded at him with "us versus them" mentalities, going so far as to claim that "I don't like it" was a fucking pre-emptive assault. If "I don't like the show" is a horrible first-strike, how pray-tell is any disinterest to be shown? A formal post defining who / what is the problem and is overall specific yet courteous? Okay, I guess that'll- no, wait, Mentova did just that and had the exact same thing happen to him. The other forum had a well stated "Hey, feel free to keep posting pony shit, but keep it in the right places and keep it SFW", and just like this thread there was a sudden cry of oppression, ruined free speech, a staff that hates them, etcetera.
Read the blasted OP.
What Zoetrope said works rather well here. If Mentova chose to post such in the MLP Megathread, he'd likely have been drowned out in under ten seconds by "NO U" / "U MAD" posts. If anything, none of the other valid critique brought up in the thread would have been shared because if someone doesn't like MLP and generally dislikes the amount of content being churned out, they probably aren't going to go into a megathread specifically created for that fandom.

He really would not.
If you popped into the thread and lurked for a bit, you'd see there are less than a dozen people who post in it regularly. Only very occasionally we get the 'hardcore' fan who comes in. If Mentova had asked "Why do some bronies freak out so badly" or something similar, there wouldn't be all these posts about "Ugh bronies are so fucking gay" and subsequent responses, turning the thread into a flame war. No, it'd most likely be answered pretty calmly by the 'regulars' to the thread, who at least have had experiences and can provide some sort of insight in response.
I say most likely because it's unpredictable when someone who just happens to be one of the bronies who lashes out will take a look into the thread.
We realize people dislike the show, don't watch it, don't want to watch it, and dislike how the flame wars have spread to almost every conceivable thing, and we would have said so, and attempted to rationally explain to him why exactly we think some bronies tend to freak out a lot as soon as something negative is said about the show.
