Is Your Username on FA/FAF Different From Your 'Sona?

I chose my username because, first, I didn't want to use my real name on the internet as my, um, artistic alias; and second, I wanted something that wouldn't feel dated in a year (only time will tell if I made the right choice).

But then I realized something when our group started putting up our 'sona names on the bowling scoreboard: My 'sona doesn't have a cool name!
I could have named it E.B., but that doesn't roll off the tongue and just doesn't sound right. Names just aren't my forté. The ElectricBlue1989 username was not originated to be applied to a 'sona, just an alias (heck, I didn't even wanna use the 1989 part!).

Luckily, I think I've found a decent-enough name. Hopefully, by not being part of my artistic alias, my 'sona won't spin-off into its own character, like what happened to other potential 'sonas in the past...

Why is this important? Almost EVERYONE in my group has a cool name, the exception being one that actually uses her birth-name that's just perfect for her.


So the reason why I started this thread, my fellow readers, is to ask if you have or know anyone else who's username on FA/FAF is different from your 'sona?

However my FAF name is unrelated to my fursona because I just wanted to use a Star Trek ref here.

I use this name for pretty much everything. My character (I dislike the word fursona) has a different name though...

Dreaming isn't a fursona name, it's more of a pen name, a fandom wide name. Where Dreaming is taken, I usually go with DreamingPaws. Funnily enough, ''Dreaming'' comes from an older fursona name, ''Nightmare Sky'', which itself comes from an older non-fursona-related pen name DreamerHusky. I usually use ''Oxy'' or ''Oxymoron'' in IM, a fursona of mine.

Hey, when you have several of 'em, it's hard to pick a fursona name to go with, so why not just pick a single name? But at least I'm never short of pseudonyms.

I use the same name for everything online. I used to have a couple of other usernames on sites (when I wasn't part of the furry fandom) but now everything is the same.

Nope. roundabout is a road thing that makes me want to strangle traffic engineers. But it's fun to say. Roounndabbout. Roundaboutroundabout. My fursona's name is Extant, which means "existing". It's ironic because my fursona is an extinct species. Speaking of, R.I.P. Lonesome George.

People think they are the same, because it kind of looks like a name, but actually no. In fact, it literally translates as kitten, which is not in my mind a good name. I still need to find an actual name for my main fursona, especially since he'll be starring in my webcomic in a few months...

Being that shteev is my FAF and FA username, and shteev is a deviation of Steve, then yes. My IRL name, FA and FAF usernames and my fursona's name are all the same.

My FA and FAF usernames are the same, but they aren't my sona's names. Unzipped Zebra started out as my Xbox Live gamertag. I tend to use it most places just because I like the sound of it. Confuses people because I don't have a zebra fursona :V I can occasionally be spotted as Joslin, Bojingle, Rooibos or Phosphorus though.

My fagsona's all have different names. The fox characters I have are all family, and they have the same last name. My name is Gibby, which is a nickname from my own last name, so while all those characters have their own names, they are all Gibby. :>

I use my character name for FA/FAF. It's not a 'my character defines me' thing, more that I like using silly aliases, and if I can have a toon to go with it, all the better. I suppose I mostly just like wasting my own time : p
