Got downpayment from Baitenkaitos. I will order yarn tonight, and work on a stock tail until it gets here. I will send another message to Hyb, I completely forgot about the email. Thank goodness he/she responded through PM the first time!

And okay. xD Should I try to wire it? She holds it in a curl when she's excited, like a husky, but when she's not she just lets it hang straight to the floor. x3

    Edit: Testing something.

This site doesn't use that kind of image coding. Are you trying to make it so when you click on an image it takes you to a link?

Also, whatever your pleasure. If you don't do a poseable one I always could, lol. I plan on making a few of those for stock anyway, despite my loathing for wire.

    Here all,

just wanted to post an idea for the front page. I've gotten some amazing feedback on it already, most of which including people not being sure about yarn tails in the first place, and being absolutely sure when they saw the up close blending. I think it'll be a hit, to be honest. I originally made them all to be links that could take them to the actual submission, but there's a limit to the coding now. I was thinking about putting them in sections like your idea, with pictures as a whole, so I will be making separate sections with all of our special things like feathers, bright colors, mottling, blending, etc so people can see the whole tail anyway when they visit the front page. I think just this compilation of all of our newest tails really is going to make a difference, and I'm super proud at our blending just by looking at it XD There's only one spot I have to fix right at the top. So, yay or nay?

    Also, ONE BAJILLION TWO HUNDRED MILLION THIRTY EIGHT THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWO POINTS TO THE PERSON WHO CAN G U E S S T H A T T A I L ! xD

Dude, on some of those it would even be hard for ME to guess that tail XD
But no, I think it's a great way to highlight the detail of multiple tails without just clicking through links--and also, when one does that, it is more probable that they are just glancing at a full tail rather than noting all the detail (which can't really be blamed), whereas this makes it obvious and in-your-face, which is what we are wanting. We want the peeps to know LOOK YES WE CAN DO THIS : 3
In other words, I dig it. I say proceed with your idea. I'm excited to see the front page with an update.

I was also thinking, a big thing that many shops have are slots. And I know you had had them, at one point. Personally, I don't think normal slots work very well for tails. Sure, it shows that we get business, which is positive, but it also pushes people away. I don't want it to look like, "Oh, well, we're SkahllyBir Tails, our slots are full so we don't have time for you. You'll just have to STALK US UNTIL WE'RE OPEN AGAIN." Good business, maybe, but a tad unfriendly.

However, there are positives to the slot-thing, too. It can give people a better idea as to when to expect their tail to be done and such. I was trying to think of ways that we could implement slots effectively, and basically came up with the idea that we do about 4-5 tails per month without much difficulty, right now (2-3 for each of us). Here, and on FA, it seems like we both always end up getting at least five or six people right before AC that need tails, occasionally for other more major cons. So I was thinking, maybe it would make it easier for people to plan if we organized slots by month. As in, THIS MONTH WE ARE WORKING ON:

    January

    1. Aestuo
    2. Rukia509
    3. Leona
    4. Batenkaitos
    5. The_Black_Cat_Suzy

    February
    1. The_Black_Cat_Suzy
    2. hyb
    3. Nineteen-TwentySeven
    4. Seamen
    5.

March (Sign up now or earlier for tails in time for Wild Nights!)
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

    April
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

May (Sign up now or earlier for tails in time for AC!)
    1.
    2.
    3.
(Tailmaker Skahlly will be out-of-country for half of the month)

    etc.

Personally I don't think we'd have any issue getting 5 tails done per month between us, and it may help congoers with their planning. Or even just people that want tails so they can pretty much know, "Oh, well, I'm signed up for my tail to be started in January, so I should have it in February." Then any lateness would just hinge on the person not responding to our contacts/not making downpayment, but at the same time, people could also choose a time that they know they'd be personally available and have available funds for their tail and such.

But that's really just an idea--what do ya'll think?

Also, if we did this, now would be the time to make Journals advertising tails in time for Wild Nights.

Actually, I think that's an amazing idea. I wonder also if we should add that downpayments should be sent by the first of the month you are located in (Like, downpayments must be sent between the 20th and 1st of every month so we can make our orders, so that there's no waiting inbetween time for money to come, and so that when we order yarn we can order in bulk instead of having to do each shipment by itself. I don't know about you, but my favorite place to buy from is lionbrand.com because they offer SO many different brands and types of yarn. The only problem is that it takes forever to get yarn. Something like a full two weeks to get anything. So if I'm getting one downpayment at the beginning I have to order separately, and by the time I'm in the last week of the month most people never respond right away so they'd be automatically pushed into the next. : /

Edit: Also, about the picture: I think the most important thing about our tails are the colors and blends. Not the shape or the length.

I have to somewhat disagree with you there Bir. Granted the colors and blends are the most important but shape I think is pretty important to.. seeing as shape includes the trimming done to make the fur look realistic and not blocky like how my first tail was before I knew what you meant about how to trim.
It's not AS important as the colors and blends but I still think shape is very important.. Now shape as in rounded or pointy tipped tail.. not as much.. but the shape of the fur.. yes that is <3

I love the collage picture with all the tails on there.. I don't really have anything to say on that other than it's awesome.

Anyways... I still need to start on my friends Rainbow tail... just been lazy.. As for the tail for Firefly.. to cheer myself up some we did a compromise.. I'm getting some art to make myself feel better and she doesn't have to pay as much for the tail.

I'm doing somewhat better... still just dealing with everything that got dumped on me. Still no word back on the MRI of my foot.. so I still don't know if I have a stress fracture or not. Me and my bad karma stepped on a rock yesterday while putting up the trash cans and rolled the ankle of said foot..
Burn on hand doing somewhat better.. Figuring it's between second and third degree burn. Mostly just skin damage.. non blister type third.. more leathery.. The only deep tissue problem seems to be the nerve in my knuckle but by the time I noticed it, it was to late to go get it repaired since that was 4 days later.

All in all just still trying to find me. A bubbly friend of mine whom always seemed very confident to me and sure of herself was talking to me about everything. Found out she's exactly like me with the paranoid fears. So we're both happy to have someone that knows exactly what the other is talking about along those lines.

I haven't cried since Monday.. and I've been able to think about doing the tails without dread... so I guess that's good..

I'm glad things are looking slightly up for you, Blossom. : 3 Even if little terrible things still happen on a daily basis, at least there's an overall healing going on.

Shape: I never, ever trim my tails. Evernever. xD I shape them using my base, and I've always been super successful. Sometimes I trim hairs at the top of the tail to make them shorter than the rest so they poof a bit more, but other than that the overall shape of the tail is completely determined by my sewing and the way I shape my base. I will have a shapes section as well, no worries. And, we're cutting the image in fours to make borders between information. That way, all of the little icons can be shown, and at the same time it won't be giganticimageinyourface.

    Our sections will include:

    1. A drawing of a size chart so colors/lengths have no deterrent to the viewer. Solely to show widths only.
......This will include prices directly underneath the images (Poseable prices will be included), and a "Length can be whatever you desire, short or long." or something similar. Exactly what Cloudy had said to me: We want to delete as much text as possible so it is as easy peasy to order a tail without having to get a headache from all the words. This knocks out three whole sections on our front page with one image.

    2. A full-tail picture row of "Special Additions":
.....This will include all extensions (Feather, bead, flower, etc), all dyed fur, tipped fur, etc.

    3. Poseable tails

The other sections will be the youtube/important/announcement/etc. If I find more things I want to highlight or if I forgot any, I will add them later this evening. RIGHT BEFORE SUPERNATURAL, because NOTHING gets done during Supernatural. Nothing. I don't even tail through SPN, I don't want ONE second of distraction. xD

By shape I mean how we all trim the floofs.. to make them not blocky.. before we sew them on.. That's what defines shape for me.. because in doing that you get real fur shape <3

Yeah. Bir doesn't do that. Bir does no trimming at all, she just shapes her bases. Remember, I was the one who gave you trimming advice? I trim all of my bundles, I just do them in a way that, like you said, doesn't make them choppy.
You know, Bir, I was looking at your maned wolf tail and my red panda tail side-by-side, and you have about a bit under a half-inch on me on either side (width-wise). This is why my bigger bases aren't equalling yours quite exactly, I bet that's about what comes off when I trim. Not like it's a big deal, but I feel like I can say MYSTERY SOLVED! and I like to say MYSTERY SOLVED!.
Although my bundles still don't act the same even when I think I'm straightening them the same as you, but, ah well XP Birs make Bir tails and Skahllys make Skahlly tails. They all be adorables and that's what matters. Mine just weigh a teensy bit more (not as much more as they used to [I originally sewed differently, which had pros and cons], except probably for large wides), but hey, that can go in the FAQ, under "Are there any differences between tails done by Bir and tails done by Skahlly/Cloudy?" XD
And then we can also have an artist preference section where you say that if they want sparkledog tails or stripes they can go ahead and message ME XP

Woah, I totally dig this. xD

The swirls will have to be a lot larger to pull it off, so the amount of stripes would have to be simplified to show the actual swirl. For example, we could make it so that there is one huge swirl where the "musk" mark would be, so that when others are looking at the other swirlystripe things they'll kind of get the idea. The only problem with yarn doing its own thing is the length of the yarn. So, if you have a three inch fluff, the hair will separate and so the stripes sometimes will break. Skahlly, what do you think?

I thought Bir trimmed her tails tooooo.... Now I am soooo lost. I've done my bundles good enough lately that when I play with an experiment tail someone wanted me to try.. (tiger stripes) I might not trim and see how it looks. With my allergy the trimming really is the worst part for me.. that's when I get it up my nose and everywhere else it can think to go..

Would be nice not to have to do it.

OOOHHH things may be looking up ever slightly more. My Friend Mikaylas mom owns a tanning salon here in town.. one of the shift people is about to be fired and I've been told I'll be hired in her place.. It's only 12-16 hours a week at 6.25, but it's gas money. Course it's an irony seeing as I'm allergic to light and will be working in a tanning salon.. but a job is a job. I may have a part time job at 4-16 hours a week with Hancock Fabrics on top of it.. so hopefully that works out in the long run..
Job would be nice.. less time to sit alone and think for sure.

@Blossom: XP It's never like you HAVE to do anything... Bir seems to not-trim just fine. I just trim because I like cleaner edges. Good luck with your job opps^^

    @Bir, @ShadowTiger18: I think we could do a tail similar to that, though like Bir said, it would have to be a little different. We couldn't make the spirals quite as tight, because there would need to be some space between the bottom and top curl of the spiral, enough so that you'd actually be able to see its shape. The one plus is that it looks like in your pictures the stripes are not ALL spiral stripes, which would both look cool in combo with a few spirals while making it so that we wouldn't have to take as much room for every stripe as we would have to for spiral stripes. And a large wide base would give a bit more space to work with it... It's something I'd definitely be willing to try, as worst case scenario it looks like you'd be okay with normal tiger stripes. Because the main thing I could see being an issue is that if the fur gets ruffled, the shape may be lost. And the fur will get ruffled if you're wearing it^^;
At 30 inches, large wide, the total for this tail would be $150. Shipping and a brush would be ~$15.
So, if you'd like to get on our list, you're welcome to pick a time that would be convenient for you. We just had an opening for a tail to be worked on in February, otherwise with our new slot system you can pick a month that would be more convenient money-wise for you. The way that it works is you make 50% downpayment on the 25th of the month previous to the one you're signed up for, so we can buy materials. Then you'd get WIP pics to okay as we progress, and you pay the remaining 50% upon completion before we mail it to you. With the WIPs you'd just want to make sure you were able to be contacted regularly, because with the pattern whichever of us was working on it would certainly want your opinion on what we were doing : 3

    Edit:
    Updates:
I have a huge pile of straightened bundles for Rukia's tail. Hoping to get them trimmed and have something to show for it by tonight/tomorrow. We'll see, as I head back to Iowaland shortly and need to prepare for that. I inevitably have stuff all over the house that I have to collect again to get ready to go back XP

ALSO @BIR: You should update the front page. Maybe not with all the pics and stuff if you're not ready yet, but update the slots section for sure so that people know what's up. As yours still says closed and stuff, and we don't have them separate anymore, either.

Okay. I updated the front page with as much as I have right now. There's still a few things I'd like/need to do.

What do you think? To be honest, I'm not sure if I like it. It eliminated a ton of text, but the pictures have to be so big and the thread doesn't allow me much room x.x

It needs help. Half of the stuff is centered, half isn't, and there aren't enough spaces. Now the words we have are GIANT paragraphs of text, which is way worse than before. I'd say our extensions thing can suffer being smaller and the size chart bigger. But I'll discuss when we are on our way to the bowling alley as well.

Alright. I will fix all of the thread things tomorrow, or you can, whichever one of us does it first. But right now, I'm going to bed. PX I'm tired.

And okay! Sounds like a great plan. We will message you with a reminder when it is close to downpayment time. : 3

    Fixed stuff.
4 MORE SLOTS AVAILABLE IN TIME FOR WILD NIGHTS!
Do you think we can make an additional Topic saying this without getting in trouble? Or have you contacted anyone about being able to change your title?

EDIT: ONLY TWO (2) MORE SLOTS AVAILABLE IN TIME FOR WILD NIGHTS! Get 'em before they're gone!

I haven't received a message yet in reply. Slots added to the front page, also.

Perfect! I will place you in a March slot, then!

So, your tail -without the cost of feathers and such-

    will cost you $80.50, + $10 shipping/brush/tracking code = $90.50.

When we message you about your downpayment, we will include the price of the feathers.

6 inches, at normal wide, would cost $12, plus $10 shipping. So $22.: 3

A carabiner is a metal clip that normally used to attach keys easily to pant loops.

So, 22 inches normal wide will cost $44, plus $10 shipping. Total = $54.

If this is okay with you, I will go ahead and add you to our next available slot in April.
