Okay...they didn't actually talking about real greyhounds and/or did some stuff with the dog? Right? o.O
Sadly, it's exactly what it sounds like. Someone from a grey hound rescue came to AC one year ((I think it was like 2000?)) and was pimping out grey hounds as a way to get donations for the rescue, but it was being done in a covertly way so as not to get the attention from the staff. Apparently, he was the owner of petlust.com and was doing this under the condition that you be 18+ and allow them to videotape it and post it up on their website.

    Fucking disgusting.

Now that's crazy. Why the heck would somebody...damn thats messed up. Its just shows that you gotta be careful with when shady people show up at these events. But you often can't tell shady people from the normal.

Yeah :/ And that's what's so sick about it, because they did it in such a way that seemed so innocent. To this day, I don't think anyone from the AC staff are aware of what was going on up in that room. I don't think it would matter anyways, being as it was so many years ago. Still pisses me off.

Which is why make sure that the person(s) from a group are legit and make sure you report anything that you see anything suspicious to the staff.

The thing of it is, the guy really WAS from a grey hound rescue and he was there to try and get donations, sponsors, adoptions, etc for the rescue itself. But he was going about it in another way that not a whole lot of people were aware of. If it HAD been reported to the staff and they came down to investigate, he would have used the excuse that the person in the room with the dog had given him a donation of $50 to spend one on one time with the dog and that nothing more was happening. At that point, the staff would have to leave it be due to lack of evidence. And someone is ALWAYS trying to get another person in trouble for something at a furry con, so it's hard to tell what's real and what's not.

I think the only way these people would of been caught was if someone had recorded it on a camera and turned it into the con staff or if the staff came barging in without warning, and they can't do that without permission.

I see. And I know its hard to tell. I remember that when I attend my first furcon this summer. One word "Beware". And I would just be careful there.

Honestly, it's usually fine so long as you don't go looking for weired stuff. Only time you'd really want to be careful is when going into strange room parties. Aside from that, don't be to concerned on anything aside from having fun <3

Yup. That too. I not worried what will happen at the con but rather there are some stuff that I needed to know about :P

I must say, I've never attended A con because of fears of sexual acts (CSI was a big inducer, and pretty much I hate thta episode now) but after reading this, I feel a WHOLE lot better! ^^

other reasons include: Fursuit is incomplete, and parents, still living wiht them (I don't think they would take the "Furry" break to well while I'm living with them still. I need to move out soon )

Okay, that greyhound thing was beyond sickening.

But at least I feel more reassured that nobody's walking around with their bits hanging out for all to see or anything.

Such things are not very common if they happen at all. I should know. *blushes* I've looked; not so much for the group orgies but for the whole fur-suit sex scene.
What I've found is lots of furries (still in the minority though) who want to do it in suit, who dream of it, paw to the thought, talk about it...and the moment you offer to actually do it they freeze up, or freak out, or elsewise scurry off.
Furries seem to be scared of their own desires for some reason. I really doubt those fur-suit group orgies actually happen very often...furries are just too dang scared.
They want it but they fear it. That's how the situation appears from the dark side of things.
The desire is very common and easy to find. The actual act almost never happens.

Nothing like going to get tested for HIV after furcons, huh? 8|

As for "yiffing" at cons, take any knowledge on it you've picked up from CSI and throw it out the window. Unless you've made plans prior to the event, the dirtiest thing you're likely to see will be two older men scritching each other.

I also have to say that furries seem to have better hygiene than otaku. SHOCKING, I KNOW, BUT SERIOUSLY. By day 3, or even just day 2, of Anime Expo, Otakon, Fanime, etcetera there's a terrible funk in the air, and don't even think to step in an elevator. It surprised me that at FC, that wasn't the case at all. You have your occasional smelly person, but it's not unwashed hordes like at anime cons. '___` Don't recall who said it, but it's not an unkind gene pool and poor hygiene contributing to the lack of giant orgies at furcons, for pete's sake.

I have to imagine that fursuit sex wouldn't be the only kind of desire/fetish that would be loved in Fantasy, yet would be so scarce amongst people given the actual opportunity in Reality. Also, not many people know this, or at least not many would think about this, but fursuits & mascot costumes are apparently REALLY FRICKING HOT INSIDE THEM. Xo Most cons have like, "Headless Lounges", don't they, where fursuiters can pop their tops and chill for awhile, with water bottles, drinking fountains, etc.

Well I won't say that furries are shady folk. :P I just saying that they are shady characters that wish to turn furries in to shady persons.

Sex at furry cons? Yeah it happens. Massive group orgies? That's the product of someones overactive imagination coupled with furry porn fueled fantasy. I've been to several AnthroCons over the years and the naughtiest
thing I've seen happen between fans is pretty mild vanilla stuff compared to
what you'll see in any of the OTC smut rags you'll find at your corner
drugstore. That's not to say that kinky stuff doesn't happen, but anyone
who says it's common SOP for furcons, has got the CSI fever and the Vanity
Faire flu, or has gotten into some really good drugs.

    This thread's still alive? Wow.

The only thing close to yiffing at a furcon I've done was with someone I'd do it with anywhere we had a bed and time alone

....most definatly not a complete stranger. @>@

WHAT? No Giant 100 Fur Orgies? Well... I'm insulted.

Well not really, I suppose their is just as much yiffing as their is sex at something like Comicon or Anime Conventions. It's mostly rumours spread by people who don't understand.

Ignorance and Gossip is what gets to you. When I was 15 what do you think I thought of when I thought about furry cons? A whole bunch of furs getting together and having these ridiculous Orgies. I'm glad I was wrong. ^_^

I just come from Otakon (the big anime con) a week ago. If it wasn't the rumors of sex during the rave (I had a friend that got groped which got the guy a nice elbow to the chest), to sex in certain, less used areas of the convention center, it doesn't matter what the 'fandom' is, there will be some screwing going on at a convention. Hell, anime cons, you don't go to a con where women are super half dressed as some anime sex object and don't expect somebody to be getting laid. Hell, normal comic conventions have porn stars at them.

What do you mean by that exactly? o.o Sounds like something crucial to know for this type of thing and well because I believe that some poeple would have to get out there and explore what might happen.

I say, put it like this. If you went to a con with you girlfriend/boyfriend, whatever, had sex and didn't tell anybody about it, somebody would have had to be really snooping around to find out that you did it (Or you were really loud during it, which I've personally experienced that, though whether the people in the room were con goers or not is unknow, but whoever it was, they were having some FUN).

So, if there are groups of people having sex at one time in somebody's hotel room, unless somebody blabbed about it, then you ain't gonna know and your innocent mind will be protected.

I've gone to cons for 11 years now and have not EVER seen nor heard myself, all the crazy stuff people claim goes on at cons. I've been to Anthrocon every year since 97 in it's various cities and have never seen nor heard, while there, any of the crazy things people claim to have gone on. Hell, I've never even seen a fursuit that would be considered "adult" personally before at a con (in that, here's the access hole). Now that either means, I'm probably a very boring mundane guy (which probably isn't far from the truth), or the people that are doing it are really good at keeping it in their private rooms, where it belongs and they have a right to do.

You never run into anything that will shake the moral core of your soul if you aren't actively looking for it. People ain't doin' it in the stair wells or anything, tv blows everything out of proportion because it it weren't you wouldn't watch.
