    Hello peeps!

First time posting here and I wouldn't have come to bother you all if I didn't feel I was in dire need of help!

So on FA there is a user that has been harrassing me for over a week now :( I've blocked the accoun and he made a new one, I get pms, emails and comments and it feels like a loosing battle. I made a ticket and it says answer time is 'never' and well, needless to say I haven't got an answer yet.

what I assume is a 13 yr old boy is demanding free art. HE's threatened me, harrassed me, guilt tripped me and is just too thick to get the message. I've tried to be professional and rational which as you can guess didn't work. I tried to stop replying and blocking, that doesn't work either. Next message I get will get a pretty rude message for sure but again, I feel like this won't solve anything. He's bullying me and I'm just annoyed that I can't put an end to it myself.

Because of him, I'm never doing free requests again (even thought I enjoyed it) he ruined it for everybody else. I always thought people getting free stuff should be more grateful than people who commission me. What a fool I was! People who pay for art understand the work that goes into and appreciate the work of the artist! I learned a valuable lesson but I'm still being punished by having this user harrasse me... help!

Other than blocking all his new accounts, blocking the emails, opening a ticket what else can I do? :(

Not really much you can do unless the staff gets involved, they have the power to IP block FA members.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I can't imagine how awful it must feel.
Unless the staff get involved, all you can do is keep blocking him.
Do not respond. Do not pay him any mind and hopefully they will stop once you stop giving them attention.
Just keep in mind, no matter how this person acts has no reflection on you as an individual. The issue is theirs.
I hope the staff will help you out in some way.
This crap should be taken seriously and be dealt with ASAP.

Thank you both for replying! I will do that, I'll stop answering and keep blocking him. It was getting to me at first and then I realized it in no way reflected how any of my commissionners felt, this is just some childish teen trying to get free porn essentially. I find it so disgusting he'd use depression and self harm as a way to make me feel guilty!!! I feel for anyone out there struggling with depression and dark thoughts but this guy is just using all this as some excuse.

I'm going to hope an admin gets involve cause if he's doing that to me now, if he sees I'm not replying I don't want him to move to another user and start harrassing them too!

Block him, report him, ignore him, and in general, don't let him invade or affect your personal life in any negative way. You don't have to give up on free requests just because of a single undisciplined dickward, especially if you genuinely enjoyed it for quite a while - in fact, if you're going to give up on something just because of him, that more or less means that he won. Just keep your cool and do your thing - he's the one who wastes his time, after all, and by listening to him too much you're just making things worse for youself.
As for free art, as I mentioned in another thread, drawing freebies doesn't make you instantly likeable for everybody. But again, it's good for promotion, there are usually several grateful people on one rude one, and it just feels good to make someone more happy, even if that doesn't always work. So yeah, weigh up pros and cons and make a decision for yourself. But again, I'll advise you not to make a hasty conclusion based on one rude guy, that would essentially be him deciding things for you.

Good point :/ I think I'll put the requests on hold and if someone comes along with a fun one I'll go ahead and choose to do it and go on that sort of a basis. The idea was that I wanted to draw more and I had very little hope that commissions would work so I figured I would take requests and have some fun with them! It gets me drawing these different OC and Fursona and it is fun when it doesn't feel like a stern demand.

You've got me thinking now, maybe I should just have a different way of taking requests! Just getting people's character references and then incorporate them in an idea I would have painted anyway... this way it doesn't de-value the commissions but I still get what I want out of the requests, fun and practice! and the person still gets free art of their toon...

A work in progress let's just say, I think I'll just focus on my other work for now and then decide for myself! (You make a good point that if I just stopped due to harrassement it feels more like he bullied me into not taking requests)

    i'm assuming you're a new user?

my advice is when you select a forum subject (general discussion, Tech, Art, etc etc) i'd stick to posting only on threads on the first two pages cause reviving very dead threads over a year old is a no no

Actually I'm not a new user to this site, and your advice is not rules to my means of operating and using these forums as part of your personal means of operation or forcing your norms or trying to make your rules heard above my own exploration of the forums.

Just gonna say, the mods tend to frown on reviving dead threads. So, perhaps don't assume someone is forcing their personal views on you when maybe they're trying to keep you from getting a slap on the wrist from those with the authority to do so?

Given how unstable this site and its pocketed gemini art pocket is, forcing opinions are a classical thing to sneak into conversation. Means, social norms personal ways to operate etc.

I'm more worried that even though a question from some time ago was asked people act like this is some grave robbing thing. Forums are a place to insert words, feedback and takes on things. You assume people one other pcs can slap my wrist, but the best way of learning even if harsh is by other interactions with users of high power. So be it then but I think and feel adding my own explanations to things even if "Dead" is annoying then let me chat with the admins, I am curious but open to what they have to say on their own take of things.

I mean after that's what a forum is. Age doesn't really matter, I mean if that was the case many posts would need to be buried and deleted seeing the vintage stock of so many of them. Cobwebs and all.

While I get what you're saying, there's a difference between posting in a thread which has been active continually for years, and posting in a thread that had fallen silent a year or more ago, especially if the OP hasn't posted anything since. This etiquette largely exists to avoid cluttering the recent pages with threads long since resolved or forgotten and shouldering out existing/new topics with what most users consider "dead" topics. It's less about restrictions of one's exploration of the format and more about avoiding a flood of junk content that drowns out more recent or still open topics. But hey, if you want to wait for the mods to lock the thread for you, far be it from me to stop you. After all, I took the bait and helped necro this thing.

also tell him that i'm pretty sure there is a rule against necro posting too much as it can be seen as trolling
