I'm cynical about that too, and I really hope the system finally changes. For the sake of the world, either the level of influence the US has or their adversarial politics has got to change!

Not really... we're a reactive species, if the US defaults then we'll be fucked over a little but a) we'll finally learn not to trust capitalism and b) the US, stupidest country in the world, will finally have its world influence reduced
The biggest thing that really makes me feel bad about the entire world is how some people, in the age of information, allow themselves to be manipulated by their own naivety and hold onto dogmas and don't even desire to learn about the world >_<
