I've finally worked out what your username means. Obviously, 32 people use your account. One furry + the 31 students of Class 3A from Negima. One of you is a ghost, one is a vampire, two of you are at least semi-demonic in nature, one is a robot, and one is more or less a panda.
Hey there, just wanted to say hi! Haven't posted here in a spell. I go as Fossa-Boy on the Pheonixed forums, which seem really slow, so I thought I'd post more here. But it seems to sorta lack much of a 'community' feel to it. So I figured I'd try and spread some cheer and goodwill, greet new people, say things to make furs feel better. Hope yer well, ~Simo
so yeah, adoptables are basically just characters/character designs artists selll. As for the consumer, they buy to keep the rights to the design, make it an official character in any work they have, commission more art of it, etc. presumably because some people are not creative enough to make their own or they want someone else's aesthetic. However, I have seen people do nothing with these "characters", so it just looks like a huge waste of money to me. To each their own, artists make money off of this practice and people seem to like it so I cant really bash anyone for it. Definitely not my thing, though.
