  • It was nice of you to set up the pandemic thread and provide set perspective on the apparently wilder days of the old FAF.

Thanks! I was out on a walk with boyfriend yesterday and it occurred to me that there’s some little things to appreciate and we might as well do so.
I hope everything is going alright over there. I read some reports yesterday about the pandemic there. Stay safe.

That sounds fun, honestly. The closest I came to doing something like that was taking a stroll through the neighborhood parklands and snapping some fall pictures for Fallowfox. The leaves are just starting to brown here.

I’m lucky that Sweden has legislation that gives us a lot of access to forests etc for non-destructive activities like hiking. There’s also a whole pile of nature preserves in easy driving distance from me. I’d love to be able to bring both cats, but the mutt gets so stressed on cat rides that it wouldn’t be right to put him through that, much as he’d love the forest.

I wish we had more legislation like that here as well as more forested spaces. The nearest camping and hiking grounds here a whiles away, more than conventional walking distance.
Incidentally linking that single video has significantly altered my youtube suggestions.

That’s YouTube for you. It’s got a few videos it likes to toss at me any time I’ve watched enough animal videos, and telling it “please don’t recommend this” seems... less effective than I’d hope.
    Curse your name and it's ability for me to always act dyslexic or some shiz and read it as Mango! >_<;
By the way I think a plural form of 'you' in English should be 'yous'. I've met English speakers who already do this, but it's generally frowned upon as improper.
Still, it's a very useful adaptation to English if yous thinks about it. ;D

I’ve written characters who do something similar, using “hims” and “hers” or “hes” and “shes” for single-sex groups. Ultimately, pronouns tend to be one of the biggest full-of-special-cases clusterfucks of languages in general.

Our grammar in English is very highly simplified, but it would be useful in some cases to have these extra functions. I suppose we can just say 'You folks', 'You guys', 'You girls,'.
Thank you for what you said.

You’re welcome. You are one of the people on this forum whom I hold in high esteem, and while I may not share your conservative values, I have every confidence you would not throw vulnerable people under the bus for them, and that’s what counts in my book.
    How are you doing currently?

Been dealing with some kind of infection (low fever, general fatigue) and the usual mental health issues, but not too bad all things told, I guess. Yourself?

I'm sorry you are experiencing that. I hope you are resting and recover soon.

I'm managing for the most part.
Wishing you all the best luck i Sverige. You'll just have to put up without beating the UK in Eurovision this year, but I'm sure you will in 2021. :3

I’ll settle for getting some properly traditional Eurovision music out of the Swedish qualifying rounds tbh. Best of luck to you, too, and be safe!
Belated Happy New Year. I hope you are doing well.

Happy new year! I suppose I’m doing about as well (or poorly) as I usually am. I hope your year is a good one!
For the record, maybe split up each argument and point into sections to post. Would be very useful to people.

Oh, and arguing that I'm not arguing with evidence is a logic fallacy and therefore does not help your arguemt

You have a very narrow understanding of how a discussion must be conducted to be valid. "I disagree and this is why" is a perfectly reasonable informal argument. "Science has evidence for this" is not an opinion.

Well they do. I can say gun control has evidence that it is good. I'm not wrong. There is. It's just a question of does it outweigh the bad..? So yes.
In my view a lot of people go 'Isn't Scandinavia fantastic? Yeah; it's so great there because they agree with all of *my* ideas. I'm not going to even bother reading a wikipedia article though before coming to that conclusion,'.

No kidding. Like fuck in a bucket compared to the US we are hella socialist, and from what I gather Norway and Denmark are much the same. It's not just public policy; it's ATTITUDE. Even the far-right racist fuckwits don't want to get rid of public institutions, they just want to make them effectively inaccesible for immigrants.

We get that in the UK too, with 'they're comin' over 'ere using our NHS!' brigade. The result of this is that the families of tourists who die in the UK get sent threatening letters demanding hundreds of thousands of pounds for their emergency medical treatment.

SD has had some really asinine bullshit going on in regards to public libraries - everything from wanting to limit the number of books purchased in foreign languages to just outright prohibiting use by non-citizens. They also wanted to ban flying the Pride flag from municipal buildings in a city where they control the council.
Just saying hello. How have you been?

Boyfriend's back from like a month abroad as of a couple of weeks ago, so that's nice. Dealing with some physical health bullshit, which is less nice, but it's not getting significantly worse, so I'm trucking along. Yourself?

I'm glad your boyfriend is back, but I'm sorry about any discomfort you are experiencing due to health problems.

I don't really know how I feel right now. I considering a few job offers right now, but that got me thinking about the future and I'm just freezing at the decision.

It's you are recovering, but take it easy. If you want to talk about I'm around. I'm making an effort to be more active here.

Sadly the whole overexertion and low energy thing is sort of "same old" - I've been struggling with what I suspect is chronic fatigue (no formal diagnosis, but I'm not the only one who thinks the symptoms fit) for ages, and I still haven't managed to figure out what my limits are.

I'm neither a physician or therapist, but have you considering taking time off and admitting yourself to a hospital where they could do a full workup?
