How do you get from A to B?

Driving, every day of the week. There's two cars for every person where I live, and for a good reason; if you've got neighbours within a kilometre, you're considered to live in a cramped area.

    Logitech Z523 Speakers?

That most definitely goes as wear, but I'm just yanking your tail now. Of course you were, that was quite obvious. I joke.

    Logitech Z523 Speakers?

No, those speakers have high-level inputs, you silly-Billy.

    Logitech Z523 Speakers?

I don't think you understand; I'm listening to a pair of 36-year-old speakers right now. Aside from wear, age really is a non-issue when it comes to speakers. That's a better motivation. I suppose any boomy set of 2.1 computer speakers will do for you, given that that's goal in mind.

    Logitech Z523 Speakers?

I don't see why you'd replace those speakers unless there's something wrong with them, especially not by anything made by Logitech. You're probably looking at a step down in sound quality, although I of course can't say for certain as I don't know what particular model of H/K speakers it is that...

GPU cooling issues - fan stability

Try this. You can essentially specify the fan speed curve relative to the temperature of the card using that trick. I use it to make my GTX 260 turn its fans off when idle and spin them up at a rapid rate past 70 °C. It works extremely well.

    PC Specification thread

Statistics of that kind are interesting, but this forum is about as worthless a data source as you're ever likely to find.

    PC Specification thread

I'm inclined to agree with this. However, the non-existing entertainment value of random people e-wanking with their computer specifications begs the question of why any such thread should exist at all.

    The FAF Christmas Gift Circle

    I am late with this.

What are you doing for Christmas?

Thus far, I've just been enjoying our lovely night sky, without a living soul within a mile to disturb me.

Do you think democracy in the united states of america is dying?

That's hardly a new form of government for the U.S.A. Someone had to say it.

Do you think democracy in the united states of america is dying?

I voted no. What I've seen of US politics points toward a democracy that's either never existed, or one that's been dead for a good while.

    Who Do You Believe In?

"Any kind of god(s)" is hardly a far cry from what you posted, but oh-so-much more general and fitting. An informed polytheist who believes in several gods will probably be very reluctant to pick your option, since it simply isn't accurate. You don't know the percentage of people on here who are...

    Who Do You Believe In?

In the way that the question is formed, I don't believe in anything at all. Do I believe in the existence of some form of extraterrestrial life? Yes. Do I seek comfort in that belief if I feel that I'm living a "difficult life"? No. That's silly, as their possible existence hardly affects...

How do we know we're the first sentient species on earth?

What makes you say that? It's not far-fetched to argue that ancient philosophy was the forefather to modern science, not to mention how it even today allows us to touch upon subjects that couldn't feasibly be assigned scientific reasoning (morals, for instance).

How do we know we're the first sentient species on earth?

Need I elaborate on what the word from means? Our earliest ancestors are the same as the dinosaurs'.

How do we know we're the first sentient species on earth?

The dinosaurs arose from the same evolutionary chain as we did. You're posting that in a thread you created, entitled "How do we know we're the first sentient species on earth?". Just sayin'.

How do we know we're the first sentient species on earth?

I didn't intend to imply that sapience is equal to technological development, only to put forward the possibility. You're also quoting me out of context. I'm not arguing that there mightn't have been any other sapient species living on the earth before homo sapiens, only that the notion of such...

How do we know we're the first sentient species on earth?

Fay is right in this. We have a fair idea about the age of the solar system, the age of the planet we live on, and the age of life on that planet. We thus have a fair idea about what it takes for life to arise and how long it takes for it to evolve. For it to be feasible to assume that we aren't...
