Does Audience Reaction matter to you when creating OCs?

I'm the creator of 30+ OCs, about half of them being fat. As a fat person, I'm enjoy good food and making laughs, so I put that into about 5 or 6 of my characters. As of late, though, I've been seeing tweets about characters being portrayed as such, saying it offends them or it's damaging in...

Is It Really Impossible For Some Artists To Ever Become Popular/Successful/Well-known?

What the heck is wrong with attention and glamour?! It's human nature to want these things. I hate when people demonize this.

    “Keep Practicing”

Everyone says "Draw what you see". What does that even mean?

    Help me understand They/Them

I'm not sure I understand your second point. And why the avoidance of 'normally'?

    Help me understand They/Them

If you identify as They/Them, I'd like to know why. The whole concept of non-binary and such is still a bit blurry to me and people were getting angry on Pronouns Day on the 16th because of the anti-LGBT and their "There are only two genders" claim, assumptions, etc. So how does this sort of...

Not enough attention for my OCs

Well that sucks because I hate commenting and not getting even a like for it, regardless of any viable reasons.

Not enough attention for my OCs

    Isn't that piggybacking and mooching?

Not enough attention for my OCs

Here's the scenario: My best friend on Twitter has 1k followers, and his OC art almost always breaks 100 likes and 30+ retweets. I, on the other hand, just reached 700 followers, but I get on average 20-40 likes for my OC art. I rarely do fan art, but when I do, the chances of it breaking 50...

Is Selling Commissions Worth It If It Doesn't Sell?

Excuse me, what??? Anatomy is a stupidly hard and emotionally taxing thing to master, a subset among other stupidly hard and emotionally taxing requirements. Learning the rules before breaking them is really damn difficult and takes way too long for most of us, not to mention painfully boring...

    Why is old art important?

This doesn't answer my main questions.

    It Feels Hopeless...

And how exactly do you gain more contacts besides art raffles?

    Why is old art important?

But with art, it's different. Some of my old art is embarrassing mostly because I posted it for the internet to see. Plus, the quality was MSPaint level and I was into some "different" stuff back then. I don't want to be remembered for drawing that crap. I can build upon my more recent works anyway.

    Why is old art important?

The common response to someone who can't stand their old/bad art is to keep that junk "so you can see how far you've come". But why though? What good will that do you? What positive can you gain from acknowledging your art history?

    It Feels Hopeless...

I agree, but only halfway. Yes, you shouldn't draw if you don't enjoy it; that goes for any hobby. Why stress yourself for no reason? But sharing your art isn't a bad thing, and is necessary for artists who do it for a living. 'Art that gets noticed' and 'art I enjoyed making' aren't mutually...

How does it feel to be a popular artist?

Is this true? I hear this so often that it's starting to sound like a stereotype. You must not be the social type if that's the case.

How does it feel to be a popular artist?

And why do people act like the benefits aren't enough to compensate for the downsides? As if a lot of people liking you will never make up for anything else? Before anyone asks, my definition of popular: Your art getting 50-100 likes/favs, your regular posts getting at least 10 likes/favs, a...

    Comeback Mechanics

Is this a serious reply or masked trolling? It barely feels like it answers the first question?

    Comeback Mechanics

According to TV Tropes, a comeback mechanic is "a video game mechanic that grants advantages to losing players in favor of balance", like Rage and V-Trigger and stuff like that. However, I keep seeing scorn towards it, saying it's "rewarding players for losing", which is apparently a bad thing...

    What is an Art Block?

Since the term seems subjective, how would you describe this 'Art Block'? I personally see it as a lack of ideas or motivation.
  20. Kopatropa

How do you guys handle art blocks?

Art block hit you? Then just don't draw until your favorite artists post something you like. - Me. It hurts to draw when your brain is fried. I despise studying; I want to draw what I want, not what people think will make me better. People need to not force their beliefs...
