Try doing that with like crates, rocks, trees and such to cut down on the number of models you need.
Ah okay, try drawing some of the characters you would think would get people interested in.
Also try and get help after you create the concept art and advertise for it.

If you ask me the way we are going as a society is that in the future now we'll still have cars, phones and that it'll just be newer version. So instead of a Iphone 2 or such, we'll have a Iphone 42.
Hey just a word of advice you should probably start small and work big.
What I mean by that is that first version of the game should be reasonably sized, but as people play the game and you begin to get money introduce new areas, new characters, new dlc, etc.

I agree with what you said, the creativity has pretty much died out it's for the most part gimmicks now.
