Well, the convention itself gives you a badge which identifies you as a member of the convention and lets you in. Then you can have a bunch of other badges (I've seen people with a lot) that just identify you as your fursona / character.

Spy on them to see if they draw furry stuff. Or, conversely, draw furry stuff yourself in public and see if anyone comments on it.

Just go to the con's website. There should be info and pictures abound.
