Well you have the basics down I believe for cleaning up linework and such. However the biggest problem is composition in your piece, and when giving a tutorial it becomes critical.

You might want to start with the basics, like stick figures. Draw lots of stick figures doing things, and it helps you get used to anatomy really fast. People who I admire for gestures are Zekie.
