From what I was reading last night, this is actually true.

I'd prefere to take the animal and keep it as a pet. If it is ok to skin animals just for the fur then it is ok to keep one as a pet. atleast as a pet it would still be alive and not pointlessly slaughtered.

Indeed, I didn't mean "It is fine to pick up an animal straight from the woods?" to keep as a pet, but if it were injured in some way and the injury is perminant to the point it will hinder it's survival in the wild, then yes, keep it as a pet. Or if it had become too domesticated in captivity...
