Since I have to make a first post... Let's start off at a flying stop and immediately raise tensions, because yes, I am that guy who likes to just forget having a normal conversation, and go strait to a.. Difficult topic. Unlike many other forums I have been on, this one seems to be attempting to keep a friendly atmosphere, and while I have no problem being nice to other people and just not mentioning politics, it is an election year and its coming down to Trump (please no...) and Hillary (why...) At any rate, we, as furries, yeah I'm not a recruiter for any campaign and I don't mind admitting that I'm a furry (I mean I am on fur affinity), are not really thought of as being aligned to either political party and I would love to get anyone's opinion now that the race is winding down. If no one likes the idea it's fine also, just giving an idea I think might be worthwhile, I am asking for a forum page for debate so what does that make me if I allow no debating on this topic, right?

Sounds interesting, would it be categorized by country?

I agree with Fallow.

Given the usual nature of political threads, it would be unnecessary to devote an entire sub-forum to it. And if they turn out like they did in the past, they'd get closed anyway.

I think that would probably be the best way to organise it, but I don't know how the owners go about setting these forums up. I don't know if you play minecraft or anything, but if you have been on the minecade forum (specifically under ban appeals, sadly the only place I've been...) it shows you the specific forum for each minigame (minecade is divided into super craft brothers, villager defence, lobby, and etc.) This same mentality could be applied to a politics board. For the United States specifically you could have national for one board and state specific for another (the state specific would have to be all 50 in one board) both parties would be in a sort of free for all in this. You would have to post your state in the title though. If you would like to make your party allegiance known you can but should not have to. This could also be applied to other countries with their specific systems. Like I said I don't know if any of this is even a possibility it depends on if anyone like the idea.

Then again, there might not be a lot of politics so probably best for general discussion.

I've always liked to debate politics, but have come to avoid it lately...or at least on furry forums, where I tend to some to escape such things.

I've never seen politics in the US reach such an ugly level, that it seems better for my peace of mind not to let myself get overly wound up. But if a thread starts, I'll probably not be able to resist jumping in, especially if it has anything to do with that pseudo-fascistic, bullying, Berlusconi-esque windbag, AKA Trump, and his loony supporters, from the horror that is Sarah Palin to the idiocy of Ben Carson to the blustering ego of that absentee governor and crook, Chris Christie. Needless to say, my views skew left, more left than the current dems, and way, way left of these modern day Republicans.

But, as I say...it's proven to be divisive in the past, and there's been some ugly fights that I've regretted, so I may just watch for a while, if only for the sake of my blood pressure!

You all make good points... While I have gotten into passionate arguments (to put it lightly) in the past over politics the only time I can say I lost friends over an arguement was over something that mattered a lot less than that. I mentioned at the beginning of this post that this forum seems to want to keep a friendlier atmosphere than most and I can perfectly understand that. This election has turned people I thought I knew into people that I just don't amoung other things. If you don't want to turn this forum into a battle ground (except in a specific post... PA primary is soon...) I can perfectly understand that. So if I need a better topic... Has anyone played or watched the fan translation of Ace Attorney Investagations 2?

I do not think a politics board would be necessary since it's considered more or less General discussion.
