Associating with the furry-fandom.

I used to like anthropomorphic characters a lot, then I found out more information about the "Furry-Fandom" than I ever needed or wanted to know. Needless to say, my interest waned. Not that I don't like to draw them anymore, I just don't like to have my art associated with furry.

I like the art just fine, but you won't catch me at any conventions or wearing any fursuits. Just not my thing.

If this is so, then my question is: Why are you two on a furry forum? o_O

I am just curious. I mean I can understand why trolls come here, but I don't understand why some people are here even though they don't want to be associated with the fandom.

Because they find a bigger audience here?
That's the only reason I can think of for artists or writers who have anthro's as subjects. If they post it anywhere else, they're going to get accused of being a furry. And here, more people are likely to look into it because that's what the site is made for.
But being on the forums doesn't quite make sense. Unless they just enjoy our company. Which would be weird.

I certainly think its all in the personal definition of what makes someone furry. I mean, I probably don't fit the general view of it by a longshot, but then there's not much else to call someone with my interests, no? At least, not something overly long, I think...

But anyway; as far as not wanting to be associated, that's fine by me - I know that the full extent of the fandom is sad at best. Anthro artists aren't always furry, though then again it depends on definition once more. Bler.

ITT: OP still hasn't learned what some of us have, which is that once you've lived among some of the real scumbags out there, somehow, nothing in the furry fandom really compares. Wise the fuck up Geek. No one is forcing you to associate with/tolerate anyone or anything you don't feel is right. No one in this fandom is somehow misrepresenting you. Only you can paint a bad image of yourself for others. And for me personally, I'd much rather be confused for a person who might like to have sex in an animal costume or something than a person who uses/sells crack cocaine or crystal meth.

TL;DR put it in fucking perspective.

Same for me. But nothing is perfect. There are things within the fandom I don't like, as there are things within the fandom I do like. But I am not willing to allow the shit within the fandom to interfere with what I enjoy doing. If people wish to tar me with the stereotypes and not listen to me then it is them that have the problem, not me.
