Australia bans cartoon breasts.

Australia bans cartoon boobs.

Apparently the Aussies have really strict child pornography laws:

Australia has banned photographs of women with an A breast cup size even in their late 20s as "encouraging pedophilia", leading to a marked increase in the breast size of women depicted in Australian magazines.

That's just far out. Really, really far out...

From the article that is among the references in the wiki article:

Breasts came under the spotlight a year ago, as Senators Barnaby Joyce and Guy Barnett commenced a campaign against publicly available porn. Rounding up magazines from corner shops and filling stations, Senator Joyce claimed that publications featuring small-breasted women were encouraging paedophilia.

Ollllddddd news that this is old news.

Besides, I'm more interested in their video game crazies.

The movement towards censorship/regulation of the Internet taking hold in some parts of the Aussie gov't is more alarming.

You know, pretty soon, they won't be satisfied with banning cartoon A cups. They will have to have mandatory breast implants for real women.

An hero...
I don't see much harm in it, though it very outlandish.
Although i do find it weird that they would ban photographs of women with small breasts, as i don't relate them to children at all.

FancySkunk

Quite.
I remember AngryAussie ranting about this a while back. The law is absolute bullshit. Under this law, if your wife/girlfriend has small breasts, and you have a nude picture of her, you can be charged with possessing child pornography. It's absolutely ludicrous.

When did Austrialia get taken over by religious fundies? I thought america is bad, but they make our right wingers look downright LIBERAL.

Breasts came under the spotlight a year ago,
Doesn't that go against the whole idea of trying to hide them from the public? :V

Maximum Awesome.
Sad... Australia has strict laws for everything. They didn't want Fallout 3 to contain real drug names, so Bethesda bent to their will and made up some (which was actually a neat idea, but the circumstances surrounding it are atrocious)

I love how they're trying to make their magazines tasteful by taking out small breasted women that "encourage pedophilia" and replace them with bustier ones. That's just sad.

So all cartoon woman with flat chest will require boob jobs and all cartoon children and teenagers will need to wear sacks so we can't be perverted by their obsenity!

Use your flippers to get down!
Yeah this is just a technicality, something that if they catch someone dealing in unsavoury content (such as child porn) that they have more ammunition in court to prosecute. I do agree that it is silly though.

I am yet to see any Anime selling shop closed down because they sell content that happens to show breasts.

I'd argue that Australia is one of the most free countries on Earth.
This constant nonsense about "oh Australia is censoring this, or that" seems just to be a hang over because of the net filters that were proposed a while back and will eventually be abandoned.

Australians are nuts, fact. I have an aunt who lives there so I should know. :/
