Backgrounds and Environments

Caryatid

Καρυάτις,
Anyone here enjoy / trying to get better at backgrounds and environments for their artwork? Seems like a lot of the art here is character based, but I personally think it's really great to be able to have characters interacting in a setting, it can really add to the mood and tell a cool story. Ofc stuff like perspective can be really hard and its something I'm definitely still working on, but I'd love to see what you guys have done!

My go to BG of choice is jungle/woods/forest because it usually fits colorful characters palettes without being too busy, but I also love doing interiors. I could draw greenery, trees, clouds, pillows, bedding and small objects for days. Most of my BGs are done after the pose is defined, so I can easily play around the characters and provide a good proportion. Nothing is worse than designing a nice bg then finding out a tail is in the way of the part you liked most.

On the other hand I dread the day I'll need to draw a building seen from the outside, I have serious issues with geometric things due to my love for organic/fluid shapes.

If anyone is interested (and don't mind some heavy NSFW) check out my gallery!
