Being more open about furry stuff with my partner

I have been in a relationship with a wonderful person for about two and a half years. Things are going great aside from one minor snag. I am a furry and she knows this. I don’t own a fursuit, but I do have these dragon scale crochet gloves that I wear around her a bunch. She likes them, says they’re cute.

But I also recently purchased a headband with horns and some over the ear clip fins. I am not sure how she would react to me wearing those around her. I also recently got my new fursona drawn, and I want to share that with her too, but I’m afraid that she’ll just think I am weird.

As I said before, she already knows that I am a furry, but never really asks about it. I’m always the one to mention it and when I do, it is usually in passing and is hardly ever broached. I think that to some degree. She is embarrassed about it. I just don’t know how to begin this kind of conversation. Any advice?

UPDATE: We had a nice conversation about things. She asked me some questions and seemed interested in learning about what I enjoy. She said a lot of it makes sense to her, so who knows, maybe I’ll convert her! XD She asked to see the horns I bought and thought they were cute. Seems like everything went well and will continue to. Thank you to everyone for your help!

She's not necessarily embarrassed by it! There's a chance that she senses it's something you're nervous about sharing with her, so she avoids talking about it for your sake. Or she just doesn't have much interest in it, so it doesn't occur to her to ask questions. In any case, if it's a part of your life that you'd like to be more open about, you'll have to broach it eventually! It's probably best to ask her directly what she thinks about it (without being confrontational), and maybe share a bit more about why the hobby makes you happy and how you like to express it.

I agree with this, and communicate as soon as possible! Suppressing yourself in a relationships sucks, and most people are a lot nicer than you think if you just be open with them.

I've literally been there with my lover, and she took it well when we talked about it. I posted my story here if you want to read about it, when another user had the exact same issue. forums.furaffinity.net: Should I tell my wife I’m a furry?

BTW, both stories turned out great...it's all in the relationship you have. After all, it's a harmless hobby and weird is a good thing sometimes. Even if she doesn't understand it, she can at least understand that YOU like it and it's your thing. Odds are she has a few things herself that are just "her", right? No harm, same deal...

Just put on a nice outfit, and then ask ''Do these fins go with this top? Are the horns too much? Do they clash with my gloves?''

Treat them like any other accessory!

I posted this into the initial thread, here is an update! We had a nice conversation about things. She asked me some questions and seemed interested in learning about what I enjoy. She said a lot of it makes sense to her, so who knows, maybe I’ll convert her! XD She asked to see the horns I bought and thought they were cute. Seems like everything went well and willcontinue to. Thank you! My partner thinks so as well. She seems curious to learn about the fandom, so I have been digging for links and what not to show her.
