Can you make an expanding foam head using a 3D printed assembled mold?

I want to make foam bases since I can’t sculpt foam well, but can sculpt clay well. After scanning, I wanted to print a mold for them, but it would have to be in multiple 6x6 inch bricks or so since my printer is small.
I was planning on modeling different parts that could ‘snap’ together to make the entire mold since I can’t print in one piece, but was wondering if the stress from the foam expansion would be too much. Is it possible to make a head like this, or would I have to wait to get a larger printer to make molds for foam?

A now-late fursuiter/crafter Tashta aka Kishma Danielle and her cohort in crime Ed Kline, a prop maker from California made expanding foam fursuit heads in a two part mold using expanding polyurethane foam. The foam was under a bunch of pressure as it expanded, making the plaster molds explode on occasion. It was explained that the molds fit together tightly so the mold would fill completely. Just a bit too much of the A-B mix would be too much.
I would think you could use maybe an expanding silicone foam, one that had controlled expansion. You would still have to experiment with volume of foam to find a workable amount and be prepared to make new molds from time to time.
