Can't decide on Sona but S/O did. Anyone else?

So, I'd say I'm new to the Furry community, but I've been skirting around the edges for a long time. I guess it was less that I wasn't in the community so much as I didn't know it existed until now?
Anyways, I've gone through my fair share of fursonas in the past, unfortunately, and I still can't decide on a good solid species and design that I feel fits me. I was hoping I'd have stumbled across the conclusion when I had my S/O design my sona for me, but the longer I look at the design, the less I feel like it fits me... I tried having a shapeshifter type sona, with a constant design but species change to make up for my inability to decide consistently on a species, but that hasn't helped either...
The biggest bother is that my S/O has just finished creating her fursona and she's very fond of her, and she wants to draw couple art and stuff of our Sonas, but I feel bad because I don't know how long the fursona design I picked will stay.

Has anyone else had this issue? And if so, what was the hardest part on settling on a fursona for you? For me, it's almost always been a species issue.

Sounds like she's excited to help you get one so she ought to be understanding enough to help you make another. It sucks going back on your word but something that personal shouldn't be something that bothers you.

I'm sure your S/O will understand. I mean fursonas are tricky for a lot of people. In my experience it's actually more common to struggle a little with it than to just automatically know. It took me over a year myself to settle on mine. I was having trouble finding a species too, some were close but nothing fit just right. In the end I wound up making up a species and it finally felt right, but even that's not for everyone. Just take your time and maybe stick with the same colors/characteristics so even if it does change later, it's still kinda the same character... ya know ^_^

Agree. Color schemes and details can go a long way and still get recognized. They're half of aesthetic appeal. The subject could change from what it was before to any creature at all, but with similar color schemes, features, and personality traits, could be recognized immediately at a glance as that character regardless of what species it was before. There's a few artists I follow that do that semi-regularly.
