CAPTCHA for preventing bots

I'm quite worried about bots in several website. Robots who pretend to be users.

CAPTCHA has been used for preventing bots from logging in the website. However, the only CAPTCHA I googled for the best is the Google reCAPTCHA.

I last saw in the forum about the reCAPTCHA issue about the image upload.

FA already has a captcha on login, so I'm not sure what the suggestion here is.
