See if maybe you can cover the undercarriage of whatever vehicle you get for some rust protection. Although that could affect ground clearance, so that's a tradeoff. Or you could make the car immune to rust by removing or replacing all the steel parts. Bit more difficult, though.

Also, I'm not sure if block heaters are standard equipment up there, but that would be nice. Cold starts below 0 are no fun.
