Ok, all you tech people. Need your help again.

Well seeing as I got some nice help for my one problem about my computer squeeking at me and figured out what it was. Someone linked to HijackThis and now I'm wondering how to fix the things that need to be fixed. Could you techy people look at the log file and tell me how I would go about fixing the ones that need fixing and the one that need to be deleted? http://www.hijackthis.de/logfiles/79c3cb2b76d8a55b040314bfd54c3e58.html

Thank for your help in advanced. ^^

All I know about fixing pc's, is to check if itd plugged in ^.=.^;;
but can't really help you there, try googling it for help,
You'll probably get more people to help you on google,
than with FA forums.
The best of luck

HijackThis is fantastic - it certainly saved me when I accidentally installed a heap of spyware onto my computer. (It happens to all of us!)

You can get an analysis by going to www.hijackthis.de and pasting the log into the analysis box. I had a look at yours myself - there doesn't seem to be anything absolutely terrible in there, but there are a couple of adware things and IE toolbars that might be causing problems. They can be fixed by going back into HijackThis itself, finding the entry that matches the one in the log, and selecting it to fix. I'd recommend removing anything marked with X in the log analysis, though you have a lot of ? entries that may or may not be nasty.

Additionally, try Spybot: Search and Destroy if you haven't already - that'll get rid of adware that doesn't necessarily have a running process.

Yeah, for the question mark ones...I'm just afraid I might kill something that'll fuck up my computer. The ones with on X are a definate one to fix right? Plus for the Spybot that'll come up in a google search right?

I see at least three on there that are almost definitely malware: C:WINDOWSLTMSG.exe, C:pROGRA~1NerodataXtrasmssysmgr.exe, C:program FilesAIM6aolsoftware.exe. Metadata checking would have confirmed that.. would be nice if HT recorded a hash of the files in its log or something.

(Ah, IE, of course 8))

Well I did delete and fix the one that had the X by them. Didn't crash my computer after deleting them. Though the one for AIM that's for the messeger I think, but I did delete one and I think that was it. After fixing and deleting I ran Spybot and got rid of things there and then ran Ad-Aware and got rid of what came up with that, so I think I'm good now.

aolsoftware.exe is usually in Common FilesAOL, so I'm not sure. Might be fine, especially if Spybot/Ad-Aware passed it by.

(insert crack about it being hard to tell the difference between AIM and adware here)

Well my AIM messenger is still working fine after deleting the one that had the X by it. There was only two for AOL and I deleted one, so that one that I deleted was something I didn't need.
