Criticism and questions ????

Taralack

Hit 'em right between the eyes
I moved it for you.

The pastels are fine if you want to use them, but you gotta make sure the colour of the outlines are not so close to the flat colours. As it is, I'm finding it hard to differentiate between the different parts and it's actually hurting my eyes staring at it. A good example of this style in use is the way MLP:FiM is drawn. http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2...tie_mark_crusaders_by_thatguy1945-d5t31vw.png

Well you're not lying when you say it's blinding. To add to what Taralack said, I made a quick little thing. Notice how the ones with the green check are much less blinding and I can actually differentiate between the two without hurting my eyes, since in it's current state it just looks like a massive blinding blob.

Kisses for everyone!
The reason the colors seem "blinding" is because all the colors are a similar value. Here's what happened when I put it through a desaturation filter focused on value: https://copy.com/to1yl6lpl9Ca

So you can see that it's not just line and color that's important in defining figures and shapes, you also gotta watch where your darkest and lightest colors are going, even if you're doing flat pieces

Hope this was helpful! Welcome to the crit boards :)

Thank you all very much! I will be sure to make the lines darker and able to be differentiated from the actual colors. I really appreciate all of the help!

No problem. The fact that you're actually seeking real criticism already means you're on your way to success.
