Cryptozoological experiences (paranormal sightings)

Whether or not you believe in paranormal creatures like the loch ness or the one i'm about to detail to you, i encourage you to read this with an open mind.

FAF user scruffaluffaguss, with whom i live here in roanoke VA, was driving to work last night. He called me to tell me about something he saw run across the road. pay attention to the details.

It was like a cat, but taller, and it ran like a monkey (how monkeys run on their fists and feet on all fours), and it had a very long tail. it looked like a mixture of a cat and monkey, and it had black fur.

Out of curiousity (with no expectation of finding a result), i googled paranormal animals in roanoke VA, and i found this.

http://www.abduct.com/photos/pn015.php the "devil monkey". one of the two sightings of it was in the late 90's here in roanoke VA. the description of this animal matches what scruffy detailed EXACTLY.

So, FAF, what do you think? coincidence, or did he maybe see the same thing that woman saw that night?

And, have you ever had an experience of the sort?

no, he said it was way too tall for something like that. :V plus, raccoons have such a close together shape and this thing was much more...not one lump of fluff

possible, but still an odd explanation...how could a monkey survive that long around here? it's not heavily forested or a good habitat for something like that.

Cryptozoology doesn't just refer to mythological beasts, but also animals that are in places they shouldn't be (big cats in Britain, etc), as well as odd kinds of known animals (albinos, etc).

Anyway, this is pretty interesting. I want to ask, is it legal to own monkeys in Virginia? It could possible be an escape from a "collector".

Also, we've recently had issues in the south of an influx of coydogs and wolfdogs. So sometimes you'll see something that looks like a coyote, but with weird colors or is bigger, or a wolf-like canine occasionally. Wonder if it's connected with the coyotes being less nocturnal lately.

I can't believe that. If he was driving in the dark, he might have mistook the sight - the car's light and their reflections can cause you to think of a moving object to look different. If it's a black cat or a raccoon, he might have seen it plus it's shadow that comes in the right angle to make it look bigger.

If you ever studied monkeys, you'd know that they don't live alone. They are always together - if that thing resmbles a monkey, it must have the chromosomes of a monkey and therefore must be partly or fully like a monkey. Seeing one alone on the road is impossible, and you'd know that stray animals do not hang around roads. That is an animal that already had experience crossing roads without getting run over.

By the way, the picture in the link is of a dog and another dog with eye effects drawn in MSPAINT. "Oh it has long sharp fangs and shiny eyes and round ears!" is obviously photoshop.

He didn't see that monkat or whatsoever fake animal.

i actually contacted the local paranormal investigaton agency on facebook to see if they're interested :3 and sadly no he didn't.

I always found cryptozoology to be interesting as hell. I mean...the Okapi and Coelacanthe were once cryptozoological critters. We are discovering new species every day so... Who the fuck knows anymore.

I much prefer ghosts though.

Those tend to be in places very inhospitable to man though, like dense jungles or Antarctic ice shelves and the like. Not people's backyards in VA...

As for cryptozoology, there were many animals that were once cryptozoological creatures, but are now known to be real, just like Skittle pointed out. However, I have to say that it was too dark to know for sure....and this is coming from crazy me, who can see auras and spirit beings.... >_<
