Does anyone else ever feel like they don't connect with the furry fandom at all?
I don't really know any other furries in real life, except for maybe two or three
And I don't really socialize on forums or anything (honestly, this is like the first forum I've ever been on)

Pretty much... Although associating myself with the fandom, I pretty much don't know anything about it.

I'm going to second that, including these forums. Some of the threads are just so "wth :confused:" that I'm kinda scared to hang around here. I'm only doing it now because I am more bored than sin.

Furry is just an interest, though. Just because someone's a furry doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to get along with them wonderfully, and just because someone isn't a furry doesn't mean you won't get along with them wonderfully. Don't feel too bad, it's not like there's some super-awesome secret thing in the fandom that you're missing out on. (Right?)

Same here, I don't associate with furries at all outside these forums and FA, I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh, I know that, I know it very well.
I just hear from the furry friends about like all the stuff they do, the people they know, stuff like that, and I think "wow.. am I missing out on something?"

well, I think that's mostly because the threads that people post themselves... I mean, notice when people post a thread about something ridiculous or to intentionally hurt something, that only THOSE type of people usually post there, or people are there to argue, but when you find a thread that's meaningful, usually, you won't see much argument, and overall, just furries enjoying themselves like they should be ^_^

Yeah. I dont know any furries outside of the internet so I appear more-or-less 'normal' to the offline world since I dont do anything furry like other than draw furry art sometimes.
I do feel a little isolated in that respect though since the only place I can find people like me, as far as furryness goes, is to go online, so I do wish I had some friends irl that were furries too. Then again, a lot of people hide it if they are (raises hand) so I might and just not know it.

for me, I'd know you're a furry, because I'm good like that ;3

for you, you'd know I'm a furry because I stand out as a furry... I love people knowing I'm a furry... although I don't really like the rumor about me wishing I could screw sonic the hedgehog... x3 not a good name for me T.T

and the difference is, I'm sure there might be things on startrek I'd find cute, or cool looking, but that doesn't make me like the show altogether...

I don't connect with many parts of the fandom. And in fact most of the discussion I find myself taking part in on these forums have nothing to do with the fandom at all. Just ignore the creepy people and you should start feeling like you belong in no time at all.

Seconded, sometimes it can be lonely but remember that other people have things they don't tell you about. Shouldn't worry about it, as long as you're cool with the fur then that's all that matters:).

Yeah I was really nervous to go meet a furry for the first time, we meet a Shari's and I didn't want to go inside because i thought he would be some 300lb freaky nerd pedo. But nope he was a normal person, and now I hang out with him quite a bit. Going rock climbing again this week :grin:.

If you want people to know you are a fur with out saying it stright up, just get some furry thing things and wear them (shirt with a paw print, stuff like that) if you are lucky a fur might pick up on it.

I sometimes feel like my personality clashes with so many people in this fandom, it's frustrating. But then again, I've made enough friends to make me think it was worth it to hang around.
