No. A lot of artists have no education. Someone does not have a completed education. You are judged by your abilities, and you can use your diploma as a coffee stand.

Just don't do Cali style and you're good. :p

Nah, you don't need an art degree. A lot of artists, especially the more known ones are all self-taught.

The problem is not education. The problem is luck, work and goals. Art, as a professional sport, as esports, as a desire to become an actor, singer or musician.
A lot of people strive to succeed in this, but most have not even come close to it. For this reason, all parents treat such desires of children with condescension. It makes sense, and they are not to blame. It's just the way life is.
They may believe in you, but they understand how great the chance of failure is.

I have informed my parents of my findings and they told me to do you but don't come crying to them when I don't get any money from those big business.

They really don't know anything about me, huh?
To be fair, it's not like it's EASY to get commissions: ya gotta fight to even be noticed, know what to price your work so that people will pay for it ect and that's not even trying to actually make a living off it.

When applying for a job in art, it's rare for the company to look-over your qualifications prior to your portfolio, it doesn't matter if you have a PHD in fine art if your portfolio is bad. Portfolio first, certifications second.

You're too hasty in your plans. You started thinking about money too soon. It may take several years for you to reach the level at which you will begin to be in demand.
If this is what you truly want, you have to work hard. And work thoughtfully. A self-taught person should be able to see their mistakes, be able to correct them - this is difficult, and this is the reason why a self-taught person will need more time to achieve a decent result. Be patient and consistent.

I'm not planning on doing anything big soon. I'm still stuck in my home for a long while it seems. So I thought I'd just try to get some cash for when I can leave

California-style art style, otherwise known as the bland as fuck corporate style. It's such a dumbed down style you'd be able to train a monkey drawing more competently than most people.

Like every other skill, art takes years. Learning biology and anatomy is extremely important if you want to improve your learning speed let alone potential drawing skill ceiling. Takes years of research and dedication to your craft. Some of the well-known artists have drawn for well over a decade if not more.

Though unlike for instance someone working as a welder or mechanic, an artist is reliant upon other people's disposable income, which is one of the biggest reason you'd want the economy to be good in order to actually survive on such a basis.

Thank you everyone! I'll be working very hard to learn and improve as much as I can! This is just how I wanna make my income, and wanted some tips, answers, and advice! (Is advice the same as tips?)

Practice, practice, practice. That's the only way you'll get anywhere, like with any other job/field you want to become competent in.

I think if you want a job in THE INDUSTRY, it helps to have that magical piece of paper that proves you're credentialed and educated in that area.

If you just want to be a freelance or independent artist, I reckon what your clients will mainly judge you on is your artistic skills, your portfolio, your professionalism, and your work ethic.

Believe me, it doesn't, when talking about Illustration positions it's all about portfolio, the only time it would is if the company they want to work for required a Cal Arts degree.

Though that being said, attending a class could be useful for connections, networking is also important.
