Do you talk to animals, your pets ect.

I do. I talk with them like they know my language, I do cutesy talk and also try to talk to them in their native language (ie. Barks, meows, and body language). when I'm walking I sometimes whistle at the birds (I've actually got a call down) and the squirrels, I chirp/chitter at them XD the only one I know is the stuff I got when camping. I noticed if I would sleep outside quite often a squirrel would start chirping/chittering at me, I think it's a warning really because when I do it other squirrels they will run away very fast. Who knows, just some thoughts from a country/city boy.

To be honest, I think it's weirder for someone to not talk to their pets than to talk to them! I don't have any pets right now (though I'd love one), but when I do I talk to them like a big idiot. I don't care though. Cats love me, and a part of that is probably the tone of my voice.

in my house i mainly talk to my pets because they don't make annoying smart alec replies, well my cat does occasionally but that is expected of a cat

I've always talked to my pets, I know my cat has picked up on the word food and no, because when I walk by he'll go "meowww" and no, I just gave you food and he'll go "mo meowww?" And that usually continues with him hitting my legs as I walk until I actually give him food

Only when no one is around, and I make increasingly bad jokes and conversation, and laugh to myself...really it's just me talking to myself, but I do talk to the dog as if it's a person and make jokes at it, I just know since they don't care what I'm saying it's really just me talking to myself.

I talk to myself more so than I talk to my pets. I do talk to my pets a lot, but it's more in a form of baby talk with them. The only time I've really talked to any of my dogs as like a person to person conversation was when someone was trying to break into our house. I told Tink (my eldest dog) that if she'd bite the guy I'd hit him over the head with my mace. I think she understood because I opened the door and she started growling at whatever was lurking outside in the dark. lol

Who doesn't? :p

I baby-talk to my dog all the time. She always wags her tail when I do so. It's adorable.

I do it all the time, with my dog. Odd thing is, he listens. Like really. Sits there and looks at me, never distracted or looking away, and listens to my words... its stange at times :D

I wonder if dogs understand more than we think they do?

Yes they do, they pick up on body language, scents you give off and sounds you make.
They know many words we don't think they know, how do you think they are so responsive.
It's really wonderful if you think about it, Dogs are the closest animal we have who we can have
a small form of communication with. Their intelligence is like that of a 3-4yr old and some breeds even
more intelligent. If they were smarter like dolphins or such we would have a viable communication
with them. Our closeness and their responsiveness would foster the start of talking with each other.

Yeah, kinda figured that... man, how I wish now my dog could talk back. Or at least answer yes/no questions by shaking his head :)

Omg. Of course.

I thought it was normal to talk to animals.

Even if it wasn't normal, I still would.

Hell, I even talk to plants.

Anything that is living and breathing, I treat them as just that.

I always talk to my Cats and my mothers Dog. It's espically funny because the Dog will sometimes tilt her head both ways depending on the word as if she is trying to figure out what you're saying. The Cats meow at me so I talk back to them just so they know that they don't understand me and I don't understand them.
