A long time ago on TechTV before it became G4 and gradually became a festering pile of concentrated suck and died, there was a great show called "Wired for Sex" that explored taboo and unknown sexual cultures, fetishes, sexy tech and internet pornography. i used to watch it whenever i could catch an episode...usually when nobody else was home. There were a few interesting episodes but the one i wanted to watch most was all about furries.

Don't worry, if the episode was written at all like the others, it was probably done very tastefully. Unfortunately i never got to see the damned episode 'cuzz my parents came home right after the intro!! Every so often i search for the episode on Youtube with the hopes that somebody might have posted it. So far, no luck.

This particular documentary aside, are there any other video studies or documentaries out there that cover furry themes? Anything that covers the "after dark" part of the culture? Or does somebody out there know which show i'm talking about?

There was a neat doc i watched a few years ago about a furry convention but it was kinda anti-yiffer, if you get my meaning. The host of the doc sorta dismisses yiffers as "the creepy uncle you invite to the family picnic but hope he never shows", when asked about controversial parts the fandom.

If you're looking for a doc. about the sexual side of the fandom, this is probably a bad place to ask since most of us here have the "creepy uncle" mindset you mentioned.

LOL i'm not interested in the debate necessarily. i love documentaries and learning about subjects outside my "comfort zone".

i don't know if those are serious answers but i'm not interested in blindly surfing a porn site in search of education and the other site suggestion is an image board that doesn't host video. i'll check the MTV link when i get home.

As for the "creepy uncle" mindset, you (as in any furry in general) should appreciate the irony of pointing out other's hobbies and interests as "strange" or perverse, considering how the rest of the outside sees the fandom in general; as a weird group of internet dwellers who identify more with fantasy than real life. Calling out another fur for being "strange" or "perverse" is akin to a pot calling the kettle black. This does, of course, go without saying.

in this case however, this little pot just wants to know WHY the kettle is so; knowing full well that both are black. :)
