Does anyone think my custom style is good?

I'm starting to think a sticky might be needed about people who keep posting asking about "New style" "check out my experimental style" etc.

Stop posting asking about if your style is good. It's one of the biggest things a n00b or intermediate artist posts about and forget about the other things that need to be worked on first.

As I said in another forum: Style is like Russia, it finds you!

It means that your style will develop when you draw a whole lotta more. The minute you come in asking about your "new style" it tells me you haven't drawn enough. You're too worried about frosting, and nothing about baking a cake.

You can put a lot of frosting on a cake and it will still taste like crap if you baked it wrong. While you can eat the frosting, it's of little substance and you can get sick of it quickly. You can have no frosting on a cake and if it tastes good, you're on the right track. You can have a cake with frosting and the frosting can be bad, but at least you can wipe off the frosting and enjoy the cake.

It's great though when you can have a cake with frosting.

Cake = foundations
Style = frosting

You have the best metaphors, Arshes ;_;

Lewi: I don't like it. If your style is to be flat (always perpendicular to view) and disproportionate, then I don't like it at all. Proportions, volume, detail. Cake. Learn it, it's going to make art more fun for YOU, you will be able to do so much more.
And you can still keep a style, if your style is humour and the characters you do.

Well said .
LOL at the Russia comment XD

But yeah , Arshes is right . you should try to work on basic anatomy BEFORE trying to define your own style.

As my crazy french art teacher would say , you can't stylise if you've never tried to go realistic before.

@.@ Damn it Arshes you made me hungry thanks.

As said before, work on your foundations.
It reminds me a bunch of garfield to be honest.

I don't like it. As I've said before - draw from life FIRST. Styles are just stylized reality, and if you can't draw the reality to derive from then you're lost. "It's my style!!1111one" is no excuse for shoddy anatomy and form. And make no mistake, your anatomy and form are bad at best.

Also clean up your linework and work on shading. Varying your line thickness will help a lot.
