Drawing tablets for use with PC or Apple???

muddypaws

Bears rock!
Hi all,

I'm dying to digitize my art, beyond the current procedure of scanning or digital photography.

In short I'd like to do a bit of computer drawing, but a mouse or trackball system doesn't cut it for me.

Any suggestions?

PC system uses Windows XP

Apple system uses OSX (Tiger version).

Thanks!

Any Wacom (or other mainstream) tablet will work for both OSs.

I'm using a Wacom Intuos3 6x8 on my Mac. I recommend it highly.

I gotta say, I love my intuos. (Tho my comic will attest that I'm obviously no artist.) But my housemate has a Cintique... Holly crap... If you've got the money, that thing is the coolest thing in the 'verse!

I have a Genius Pensketch 6x8. It's a cheap one, but I've never had any problems or anything with it. I got it for $80 off Woot.com, but I know you can get them online for about the same price.

Plus, it comes with extra nibs

I use a Wacom Graphire 3, and it does it's job very well. Inexpensive, too.

Just make sure you download all the proper drivers, and you'll be fine. :p

Wacom Graphire or Bamboo, the 4x6 tablets are nice if your just starting out, it takes a while to get used to them. but those are rather inexpensive but they work as nice as an intuos, the intuos just have more hotkeys and higher sensitivity levels, but it doesnt matter as much if your just starting with one. I had a few cheaper off-brand models but Ive found they arent as smooth and the sensitivity isnt as good as the wacoms, so yeah, Id go with them, they are probably gonna run about $80-$100 at fry's.
