DreamThread~

Just a thread where you can write your dreams for others to read, and discuss dreams...

and no, not your goals, like, "I WANT TO BE AN ARTIST WHEN I GROW UP YAY!"

no, not those. Save those for career day at school, mmkay?
DREAM DREAMS. So do you all dream regularly?
do you dream as your fursona, or as yourself?
Do you find any significance to your dreams?

hmm... i don't really feel like typing a dream down now. Most of my latest dreams have been too short, too dull, or I woke up too early for them to carry through.

I do recall one I had the other day:

I was in a fighting arena, and my weapon was a staff that could shoot GIANT lasers. The lasers were red, covered a large area, and were slow to deploy--much like samus' in brawl.
My first "training" target was an ottsel (though with the coloration of a normal otter) with cyclopia. I couldn't hit him with the laser because he glitched out the dream and i got my laser stuck in the floor. (my dreams often have a video game element to them--glitches, HUD displays, levels... etc...)
Next, a fought a bunch of "bad guys". Just basic thug-looking people. I tried to lay off the laser, because using it was a crapshoot. If I hit, KO. If I missed, I was open from all sides for heavy attacks.
So the next level was me versus dixie kong. She was REALLY tough... fought a bit like diddy in brawl. (lots of brawl references... i know.) By the time I beat her, I had only two lives left, I think. Well i don't remember exactly. I just remember I was low on lives or fairies or hearts, and i was pissed off.
I ran around pouting about what im going to do in the following matches--i still had to fight three or four more.
The next fight was me versus kiddy kong. That went easy. Still didn't use my laser.
Next was a break "bonus" round where I had to fight a bunch of "volunteer" people that signed up. I knew one of them. I was talking to her and all, when the ref guy started to get pissed off.

then, i woke up. DAMN SCHOOL!!
I would have had to fight a diddy and dixie team-up after that... which would've been tough.

well thats' my dream. howsabout yours? I promise I'll read it! :3

I'm in love with a pizza.
*censored* I can't say.

I can answer your three questions though.
1- No, I don't dream regularly.
2- I dream as my fursona sometimes. Then other times as myself.
3- Sometimes I do; sometimes I don't. It depends on the dream.

- I don't seem to dream as regularly as others, at least during full nights of sleep. However, during college days, I ALWAYS dream because I ALWAYS am awaken by my alarm clock mid-dream. Generally it takes like 2-3 minutes and I forget the dream, though...
- Never dreamt as anything other than myself.
- I don't put any significance on my dreams. They're just mental processes that, at best, recapitulate the last few weeks.

There's one thing I dreamed about regularly when I was younger.

I, my bro and my dad would be in some kind of egyptian ruin, and everything around was made of yellow stone (and even though we were in a windowless, torchless area, the place was lit up like if it was filled by daylight). The dream started with us turning left at the end of the corrider, and them two turning left again immediately to enter some weird room full of bolts and hammers and that kind of stuff. Personally I'd always continue forward a bit until I'd end in an area where there was a corridor to my right, a corridor soon turning left before me and, to my left... a stone dwarf statue, wielding a stone axe.

I made this dream like 5-6 times, and every time the same thing happened up to the moment I was in front of the dwarf. Then I always reacted differently, with the same result :
- Ignored him and turned back, got axed in the back.
- Saw him, remembered him, panicked and ran away, got axed in the back.
- Blowed a raspberry before him and turned back, got axed in the back.
- Ran to the room where my bro and dad were (that's actually the only time I "went" there, so I'm basing myself off that to say it was full of bolts and whatnot), the damn bastard actually based the wall down and axed me in the back.
- Threw the bastard on the ground where he broke in a hundred pieces, turned back to see the corridor facing the dwarf was... rigged with axe-wielding stone dwarves. You guess what happened when I turned around.
- And the last time the dream was incomplete, I never got to saw the dwarf and I never had that dream again.

Weird huh? Sometimes I wonder if I haven't just dreamed that I had dreamed of this 5 times before, but signs indicate I really DID dream all those individually (barring some details maybe). I had talked about dreams with someone a few months ago and when I mentionned this one they replied "Yeah you told me about this years back, but I don't remember you having mentionned you dreamed this more than once".

Well, most of my dreams are rather interesting. You see, I get these dreams where they're part of a plotline, an entire world if you will. Sometimes it's like I'm reading a book and I see the events unfold before me, sometimes I experience it first-hand as one of the characters and I can actively influence the plotline. I have a whole "storyscape" in my head. It's where most all my characters and their world came from actually. I remember then all very vividly, so I can retain details in my stories.

The other day I had one where I was my character Cleo. She's a fierce demonic sort, so whenever I'm her I feel powerful and in charge. I was being chased in flight by a sorceress. She was only a mere girl, but I knew she was strong. The funny thing was I wasn't really being chased. I was letting her think that, but the whole time I was leading her on.

I flew into a stand of very large cottonwood trees (I get alot of cottonwood trees in my dreams for some reason). I'd weave and duck through the dense branches and trunks, and she'd still be on my tail (she was flying herself, due to magic). I finally ended up clinging to a trunk, waiting for her to come by. Cleo has a sword that can emit concentrated bursts of destructive sonic energy when swung, but this time I used it to generate a stun-like frequency, which I (as myself, not as Cleo) had not known about. The thing with my dreams is I discover capabilities and things about my characters I previously am not aware of. So I found yet another thing Cleo can do with her sword! It was pretty cool. I love being Cleo. :D

I'm the reanimator...
Have never dreamed of being another person/furry/animal, but I have had an omniscent (third person) dream where I knew what I was thinking but seeing it play out like a movie scene.

One recurring dream that I tend to have is being out in the middle of a body of water, I've always thought it was L. Michigan since I live so close to it, and just looking out to the shore. Boring, I never really over-analyze things that don't offer much.

Any other dreams I forget after a few minutes to a few hours.

Persia: Um...Perrrsia doesn't really dream too often nyaa :3
Perrrsia dreams as herself nyaa.
Perrrsia doesn't know if there is sugnificance in her dreams nyaa :3

One dream Perrrsia had was where Perrrsiaand Thety-dono were on a hill and Perrrsia was running through some flowers. Thety-dono looked like Thety-dono's sona and he was just standing in the feild. It almost felt like Perrrsia was in her own body nyaa.

Fairly certain I have regular dreams, but most of them aren't memorable.

A recent one I had involved a massive whirlpool off the coast of California near Santa Monica. It was ringed by these large Norse-like statues with water pouring over them into an abyss. I followed a train of individuals all with some kind of special object or power and we all jumped in and navigated the abyss until we reached a temple floor.

I woke up around that time. It was trippy. The most vivid part, though, was the whirlpool off the coast of Santa Monica, CA with the statues. I can still see them in full detail.

I keep having a recurring nightmare ever sence I was a pup. The dreams always seem to start out alittle different but it always deals with 3 evil spirits that come and possess either animals or people that are around me at the beginning of the dream. I do what ever I can to escape the spirits running threw the densess forsest to hiding in the largest city scape and every were between. When they cant find me they raise the dead and send out hordes of undead to find me. Ive even tried to stand and fight the spirits but the undead seem to swarm more. Running out of ammunition, getting trapped or being outnumbered by the zombies. Is usually when I wake up.
I built my fursona around these dreams to help fight against the undead. I know it sounds weird but I think it helps.

Answers to questions first.

1. Roughly 50% of the time, actually.
2. Myself, I've only just created and began to 'become' my fursona.
3. I occasionally have dreams about locations before I visit them, and I can then navigate them, if that's what you mean.

Now, when I was a kid I had this nightmare about a room full of cogs. I'd be following a narrow but inexplicably perfectly navigable path (see Dr. Seuss) and then suddenly I'd find an outdoor furniture set, made of white wrought iron. That wasn't the scary bit, I'd then wake up and my depth perception would be ruined, I couldn't walk properly. Don't know why...

Yep, lots of dreams, and do my best to remember them, because they're so fun sometimes, especially lucid dreams. I've also had some as my fursona, which I remember particularly well, and were very enjoyable.

My most recent one ended up playing in some kind of Turok 2 scenario, and the damn t-rex kept eating me. Plus I felt bad about killing the raptors.

1. I do, near enough every night. It's pretty fun actually, I can change them when I want. The ones I really hate are when I'm walking and get hit by an 18 wheeler or something. I usually wake up with a great jolt, kinda like a single giant convulsion of the body. Those suck.

2. I dream as both, though it's normally my fursona. I often meet some of my fur friends in the dreams where I'm my fursona. The ones where I'm myself are usually hilarious though.. :D

3. Only in one dream, which still bothers me a wee bit. It was quite recently in comparison to the rest of my life (if that makes sense), around mid-april. It was NOT fun..

I dream every night, and when I dream I am usually my fursona and it is a ton of fun. I am usually going some where or at a party or school and the people around me are usually mixed between furs and humans.

Yeah down with the zombies dont let their uprising take ahold.

Wow, interesting responses. Timber, I understand your "dream guardian" type of thing going on. Although I never really made a guardian type of figure, sometimes if I found myself falling into a state of hypogognia, [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogic_hallucinations ](which happens rather frequently, and isn't all that fun. It's like a bad trip, basically, except I can't move.) I imagine little creatures I made up come and ward off the hallucinations.

Yes... yes, I am crazy. >.<

Oh and here's another question for you all:

Do you feel pain in your dreams?

I do, and once when I told somebody that they told me that I couldn't feel the EXACT pain of a wound unless I had experienced that pain in reality. For example, when i told him I had been shot in my dreams, he said that the pain I experienced was onyl an emulation of that, and was actually the pain of another wound that I had experienced earlier in life, and had remembered subconsciously.

Well, I think that's silly. I don't know if anyone here has ever been shot, and I may have only been shot in my dreams, but I can tell you it's nothing like anything I have experienced in reality. the worst wound I've ever had was a large cut on my left hand, and that feels very different from a gunshot wound.

any opinions on this?

To answer your questions:

1. I dream on a nightly basis. And what's more, I always have lucid dreams (which are dreams where you can control the action).

2. I dream as myself or my fursona interchangeably.

3. My dreams usually have no significance. I do sometimes use them as inspiration, however.

I dream often- oddly, I usually know I am dreaming while I am dreaming, but usually can't do anything about it.
Usually my identity is rather fluid in dreams- my fursona is sometimes there, but occasionally is me, usually isn't.
My dreams are mostly very obviously about my anxieties- I will forget to attend a class and fail my final exam, press the brake pedal on my car and have it not work, lose someone or something important, let someone down... Right after my dogs died, I'd dream vividly about them every night. But sometimes my dreams make absolutely no sense and are quite happy!

I haven't been shot much, but I did shoot myself in the head once, and had blood running down the side of my face for the remainder of the dream, along with a wierd feeling from the wound. Given the placement, it was very close to when I hit my head on some sharp metal years ago. But then again I've had head injuries on both sides in various locations, so it could just be coincidence.

I had a gorram nightmare the other day. I took my jumper off and put it on the table, when suddenly a giant purple spider crawled out and started chasing me. Arachnophobia sucks.

I very occasionally dream as my fursona(s). Most of the time I don't remember my dreams anyway.

ALLLBATROSSSSS!!!
Man if one of my friends was on here. He has some messed up dreams.

The last dream I remember vividly is one I had after a long night of playing halo 3. I stayed up from 11pm to 8am. Not healthy I know.

I was dreaming that I was playing halo, not me with a controller in my hand but actually being inside the game. I was in a FFA match on Guardian. There was about 6 to 8 players. Two of them were a M/F couple. It started as usual, the announcer started the game "Slayer!".

Some time passed then the objective changed. It went from slayer to something completely different. The object was for me and the only female playing to get together and have sex. Everyone else had to try and stop us. The girl and I looked at each other and gave one another one of those dirty looks. Kind of like we were checking each other out.

So the game started. It was chaos. I remember sitting in a room throwing spike grenades at the girl's boyfriend laughing my ass off. Some how I died and respawned. I respawned behind some barrels and the girl was close by. She leaped over the barrels, we tore our armor off and . . . well . . . you know. Everyone else just stood there and watched.

I woke up after that. I was like WTF? That's my kind of Halo!

I'm not making this up.

When I was younger I would have dreams that would be considered Hypnagogic. It was horrible not being able to move and the feeling of something restraining your breathing. When I got older it was a bit more controlable.
In highschool I met some friends that were into wica. They taught me to discover parts of my animal spirit totem during meditation and how to control my dreams a bit more. Skin walkers or shapeshifters used their lucid dreamscape to take form of their spirit animals. So I figured it would be helpful to take the form of my animal. I guess you could say im a spiritual werewolf more then a furry.
Yes I do wake up with pain, scratches, bruises and minor cuts. Not all the time though just once in a bluemoon.

I have experienced pains in my dreams, of broken limbs, torn limbs, me being impailed or torn through. Of corse the pain wasn't to extrem but I could feel it none the less, even when I wake up from the dream or nightmare I retain the feeling in the part of the body that has been eflicted.

Left in a cab...
I had a dream last night.

I cannot recollect the first half, though I do remember it was quite dull.

From what I do bethink, I was watching my neighbors throwing firecrackers into my front yard. I stepped outside to enjoy the "festivities". A small child, of about 3 years old, placed a firecracker right in front of me. He knelt down.

I thought "Don't fucking tell me someone gave this kid a lighter."

He had, and stood up after lighting the fuse. He looked up and around, the kind of desultory look young children often express. Being the "older brother" I am, I prodded him away from the lit firecracker. It went off with unanticipated size.

My mother came around the corner. She was quick to alert that I was bleeding. I looked down, a small hole about half a centimeter in size was bleeding lavishly from my calf. My foot was palled with blood, much more than could possibly originate form the single hole in my leg.

I asked my mother to grab the garden hose lying the yard. I wanted to wash away all the blood to locate the additional wounds. She didn't, however; caught in a motherly panic. I argued with her briefly without progress. I turned to a computer console, conveniently located next to the front door. I felt that translating what I wanted into Latin would surely help.

Then I woke up.

I never feel pain, but I feel something I call "dull shock". It's like when you get punched - you feel pain, and a shock. In my dreams I only feel the shock. Never in RL have I experienced this otherwise, for there's always a minimum of pain accompanying shock in life, unlike in my dreams.
