The title post says they're going readonly at the start of next year, so to me that says yes, they'll still be accessible.
I built the Discord and chose the moderation tools and Flamingo and I are both moderating it. Every single thing is logged. You can change that privacy setting per server. You should see the amount of spam we filter through daily here, lol.

Yes, all of your naughty DMs of debauchery can still haunt the mods at night, even after January, I'm sure.
This won't be permanent as it causes the same issue of not providing ROI, but it will be readonly for a good amount of time.

Will there be some offline/downloadable archive available? Even if it's not hosted here (so that site costs don't skyrocket etc). Don't know if this forum system supports that, but I am curious all the same.

I just downloaded Discord yesterday, and it is clearly no replacement for a forum. It nothing more than a chat program, with a few suggested topics. Gone are Threads, where a commiunitiy can work on just one topic, it will be a mess!
Doesn't the FA forum hand-verify the accounts that get registered? I remember that I had to wait before I could post something, so how is this even possible?

That was my thought, but wether the resources jnto maintaining that will soon get pulled. I dunno.
Unsure, but can definitely look into it. We want to retain what we have, but we also want to modernize and make moves that make sense as a community-based business.
It's "up" but staff-only at the moment. It'll be released on New Years.

Cause I think the big thing about a forum is that it shouldn’t have loads of active members. Most of the members should come from not logged in accounts. Most of FA users don’t have a FAF account and come here with questions, see a past asked question that they had and they move on. Rarely would artists want to use FAF to get comms because their art is their ad. People wanting artists should also do the same. I also think it’s unfair to compare a message platform to a porn platform. WITH THE NUMBER OF TIMES I WANK IN A DAY.
I think you need to use Discord more before complaining. Lmao. It has forums and I've made plenty in it so that users from the forums could still communicate in that style.

Failing to see the connection between the main site and the forum other than using it as something to threaten us with because you're upset the forum is going away. The communities between the main site and forum, and how each operate, are completely different. FA+ also has nothing to do with the forum other than ads.
Anyway, if anyone earnestly wants to see more of the structure of some of the forums we've created in the Discord, let me know. It might help ease some.

What other furry forums exist out there? FAF cant be the only one. Maybe its possible for people who dont use, or dont like discord to migrate to another forum.
If this is closing and there is nothing we can say or do to change that fact. Maybe a migration could be a good compromise
