I'm in comics/graphic novels, if that counts. I'd say I "write" them, but it's more like I hack up a hairball of words and then stuff some illustrations around them. (I suck at writing.)
Like the writing in any community, the amateur stuff can range from the very very bad to the surprisingly good. I don't read as much as I should around here.

FA is not very centered around stories, I must admit. Writers sadly do not get as much attention as artists.

No, you know, I agree with him. And writers should get more attention than they do; unfortunately it's easier to look at a picture than it is to read a story, and people are lazy (myself included, not gonna lie). Maybe it's just because I've struggled with it myself, but I respect talented writers; it takes just as long or longer and as much natural talent to tell an engaging story as it does to produce a decent work of visual art, and writers deserve credit for their work and skill.
