I've tried this multiple times but it hasn't worked for me. I've tried different browsers and different file sizesIf your posting in the main FA site I’ve noticed this too, it’s weird but I found a way to fix it.
Basically you post the thing, then you go into edit submission and reupload the gif, hopefully that works for you
When you say file size, do you mean in terms of bytes or dimensions?I've tried this multiple times but it hasn't worked for me. I've tried different browsers and different file sizes![]()
Hmmm that is annoying- you said you tried different browsers but have you tried another device? Like maybe try uploading it with your phone if you were using your computer? Both, file size was originally 9.8mb then compressed down to 7.3mb. Then further reduced because I read a 5 year old comment that said that the maximum was 1200x675. This was before I saw that the gif problem was a known site wide problem.
I just tried from my phone (android) and no dice, I also tried the changing the source file thing and still nothing. I recently changed my icon to a gif and that still works though.Hmmm that is annoying- you said you tried different browsers but have you tried another device? Either way the site really needs to fix the GIF problem, there is a chance it’s gotten worse with the update but idk
I deleted the file since it wasn't working, I just uploaded it to my scraps. I'll keep it there for a while to see if maybe it just takes a bit to fly changed the source file.Gifs from before the update seem to be working fine, including the ones in your galley. I don't see anything from you from after the update, but I can't see if there's anything NSFW in your galley.
No, there is no solution yet as far as I know, it doesn’t matter how much time it spends uploaded it doesn’t work. GIFs aren’t the only files having problems I believe?I deleted the file since it wasn't working, I just uploaded it to my scraps. Good to know, I only deal with pictures and I haven't uploaded in a while before the gif so I hadn't noticed. That's true, all uploaded files are affected. It's even known what's going on. All uploaded images are most likely being processed by the downscaler, even if no downscaling is actually performed. This will often result in loss of information, the downscaler can only handle simple pictures.
That's hilarious if the downscaler is ImageMagick because it can handle gifs if it's configured right.the downscaler can only handle simple pictures.
I have no idea what software is used but it's acting like if all files were opened and saved in MS Paint. That's hilarious if the downscaler is ImageMagick because it can handle gifs if it's configured right.
