I'm just gonna name 5 albums you should check out. Generally going for brighter stuff, less dragged out, because that'd probably bore you <.<

Sigur Ros - Takk
Mono - Hymn To The Immortal Wind
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People

I don't even have that big of a post-rock library yet but what have you here are some great albums.

Also, random dump of albums you should also be interested in:
Anathema - Judgement (Fairly straightforward prog rock/metal)
Ayreon - The Human Equation (The best rock opera, ever. Can't pin a single genre on it, though)
Bodies Of Water - A Certain Feeling (Modern rock with obvious 70's prog influence)
Caligula's Horse - Moments From Ephemeral City (Prog Metal) (Pay What You Want HERE, you can get it free so check it out for sure)
Coheed & Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 (Rock with some prog influence; it's a LOVE or HATE band so be sure to check out a few songs beforehand)
Devin Townsend - Ghost (Light prog rock)
Dream Theater - Awake (Prog Metal)
Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade of Gray (Prog Metal)
Haken - Aquarius (Prog Metal)
Kamelot - The Black Halo (Power Metal)
Mastodon - Crack The Skye (Prog Metal)
Oceansize - Frames (Prog Rock) (I highly highly recommend this album, it's one of my top 3 albums of all time)
Opeth - Damnation (Light rock, because you'd hate their other stuff)
Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane (Prog rock/metal)
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (Prog rock with slight metal influences)
Radiohead - OK Computer (Mostly straightforward rock)
Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition (Prog Metal)
The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium (Prog Rock with a LOT of energy)
Thrice - Beggars (Straightforward rock)
Tool - Lateralus (Prog Metal)
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind (Prog Rock)

Where is Thrice - Major/Minor on here? You need to get on this album if you like a band half of the people I know have never heard of, (which happens to be my favorite band)

Unfortunately I can't give you any suggestions that aren't already mentioned up here since my Ipod is littered with Touhou tracks, random VG music, and Homestuck. I think the only bands I have on there are InnerPartySystem, Thrice, Muse, and other random stuff. I've heard some stuff from a band from my area called Love Drug which is pretty good though from my girlfriends Ipod.

Wow, there's some seriously good music listed here, guys.
Could I possibly interest you in some Pony tunes?

And thanks to everyone else for posting here, I've got enough music to go through here to make my ears bleed.

Evan of Phrygia

Swedish! Not everyone who uses an umlaut is German.

Oh goddamit sorry.

It wasn't that that threw me, I haven't even looked at their music in months, possibly years. I was relying on memory to serve me correctly, and clearly it did not.

Definitely check out Voltaire, he's fantastic, and his music is smart.

Scroobius Pip, Turisas, Staind, Florence + The Machine, can't really think of much now.

I only listed one album for each band, and I still like Beggars more than Major/Minor, though both are incredible albums ;)

^ I don't know how much of their older stuff you like, but Vheissu is beyond amazing.

Artist in the Ambulance is the last old album I'd go before it gets too scream. Stare at the Sun was the first song I heard and it was randomly off of SSX3 that I found it, and then found my brother had the album. I stole it thereafter and pretty much never let him have it back.. XD

Vheissu is my personal favorite, though.

Lavender Scented
8.76GB of pony music?

...Why the hell am I downloading it all?

Because the music is the pony crack to our pony coke.

Also, Krystal, do you like downtempo electronic music?

Little People has one of the best albums out there. You can get half of his album for free here:

If you like it, I suggest getting the whole album. Partly to show support but also because the rest of the album is great too.

Knight Of Time

Paladin of misinformation

The Avalanches are pretty cool guys. I think this album has around 5000 samples in it, but they use them in an interesting manner.

Spoonbill. I don't even know what this is. But it is fantastimacular.
Some guy just walked out of the outback, grabbed a computer, all the kitchen utensils he could find, about five dozen eggs and made an album out of it.

Miss Pauling's Furry Wife
One word: Rammstein.

My favorites of theirs include Sonne, Sehnsucht, Mein Land, and Engel. C:

A perfect circle, 30 seconds to mars, blink182, the prodigy, Fatboy slim...

I don't want to live forever
The Wall, it's an album by Pink Floyd. It's my all time favorite. Just look up "In the Flesh? Pink Floyd" on YouTube. Make sure you put in the Question Mark, or else you're going to get a very offensive song.

HINT: Do not tell people to start with The Wall. It's weird and will put people off. Point them towards Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here, then force them to listen to Animals afterwards (because it's their best). The Wall is probably safe after that.

I mean, nothing against your recommendation, but... The Wall is weird, yep.

Cybernetika's Colossus. one of the best albums released this year, imo: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/cybernetika-colossus
