Good furry game suggestions?

Title is mostly self-explanatory, but I'm constantly looking for more games that either let you play as something other than a human or human+ (elf, dwarf, orc, etc), or let you have pets. As long as it isn't subscription based I'm down for just about any genre. Some examples of stuff I've played in the past (and for some still play) that fit those criteria:

Ark Survival Evolved
Pokemon
Skyrim
Century Age of Ashes
The Isle
Spore
Digimon
Armello
Minecraft
Monster Hunter Stories
Far Cry Primal
Okami
Shin Megami Tensei
Persona
WoW
etc

So yea, big range. All I want in a game are at least one out of the two criteria and I'll almost certainly enjoy it. Suggestions?

This game isn't out yet, but it might be something to keep an eye on; Back to the Dawn.

kinda hard for me to describe what kind of game it is, but there are some gameplay demos on youtube. It takes places in a prison where either you're a spy (if you play as a panther) or you've been framed (if you play as a fox).

There's also Lost Ember which is out. It's a short atmospheric game that's basically a narrated walking sim with hidden collectibles to find. You play as a wolf that can "possess" other animals to have access to their abilities like swimming as a fish, flying as a parrot, breaking rocks as a bull, it's awesome!

Honorable mention. Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom which is a spiritual sequel to Sega's Wonder Boy 3.
Your character is a human, but he loses his human form and spends 80% of the game switching between a dragon, lion, snake, pig, and frog. He doesn't get his human form back until basically the end of a 20+ hour ordeal. So it's basically a furry game.

It's fantastic. One of the most criminally slept on, polished, and full featured search action games in ages. Excellent platforming, visuals, music, and difficulty.

Yeee these are all great suggestions thank yall! And I’ve played Lost Ember and oml it was so freaking good, I spent a good 20 minutes just flying around as a parrot doing nothing else cause it was so pretty :3

More is always welcome but time to check out this list!

That game has wombats in it.

10/10

Also, have you heard of Polyroll? I've been playing it a lot lately, it's only 5 dollars, and wears its influence on its sleeve, but the Pill Bug protagonist is cute, and the gameplay's not only solid, but so is the level design. The game also has a good difficulty curve that's challenging at times, but usually isn't frustrating.

Another budget platformer I played a while ago with both good gameplay and level design is Trash Quest, which surprisingly is NOT trash. The difficulty is even harder, but again, it's challenging and fun. Plus, the playable character is a raccoon. Both of these are budget titles, but they're both pretty good.

I have not heard of them, I’ll have to check em out!

Oh yeah. Rolled Out.
Beat for beat just Super Monkey Ball (which also has a great little collection on all platforms).
And Glyph.
Oh dear god I remember super monkey ball, I was god awful at it. But then again I was like 6 sooo… maybe I’ll give it another shot lmao. Glyph looks pretty cool, might grab that one too :3

Even the top world record speed runners will tell you something is wrong if you aren't dying at any level of Monkey Ball play. It's hard as shit series.
What can you expect from the F-Zero GX team? lmao

Gonna stand up for Rivals of Aether boyee. Better than Ultimate when it comes to gameplay and I'll die on that hill. Ranno's art alone would pull me in, tbh.

And yeah Forged in Shadow Torch seemed really passed over for some reason. I loved that game. Metroidvania, but the combat is Hideki Kamiya-esque. And it's thoroughly furry? Gimme that.

Fist was just not marketed at all. And any time you bring up some fresh, new search action game, the Hollow Knight fanboys creep out from under the floorboads to go "ehhh, I'll wait for SilkSong" like it has a fucking release date. As if you need to take out a loan you won't recover from to buy a $40 game you can refund. lol

And yes, play Rivals. It's better than even a *good* Smash Bros game would likely be today. If you aren't blinded by the glitz and glam of licenses and actually value properly realized game mechanics there's a lot to love with Rivals. You can play as an angry grass mutt and fight a panther with a laser sword. Or a smoky hyena man that clones himself. There's even a whale dog and an annoying ferret.

And a fucking RAT!

The online is also FREE! You actually get into matches with the rules you ask for. And the game has rollback netcode so your actions will actually come out the year you input them!

lol, I actually forgot Nintendinks pay to play that molasses Ultimate online.
Ultimate only has like 2 rats which is pathetic. Rivals has at least 3. Punch rat, Sing rat, Spam rat. I'd also consider Maypul a type of Raccoon rat.

"Pay to play online when we're at our financial peak and the most successful we've ever been in our century long history! Give us more money that we don't need to play bad games with worse netcode than indie games and worse online structure than our last entry! We know we started out letting you play for free in 2017, but that was before we dangled shiny licenses in your face knowing we'd sucker 30 million sales with them! So we were gonna capitalize on that! Idiots!

Did we mention to get the full experience, you'll be shelling out $120 total, in addition to the $20-50 a year and the $70 for an actual functional controller to play it with AND $20 for an Ethernet port because we couldn't be fucked to put it on our 2017 console?? :D"

When you think about it, though...
...Pretty much every furry character in the game dies. The whole game is about removing a curse that turned everyone in the animals, even though the curse really had no drawbacks whatsoever and everyone could pretty much live the way they wanted to. Honestly, the whole story just pisses me off.

F.I.S.T. was 30$ on the PS4. Plus, it wasn't Hollow Knight. It was Metroid that killed its chances of popularity. They came out at around the same time.

I know Hollow Knight didnt kill Fist literally. Im saying anytime you recommend a game like this to people, thats the first thing to come out of anyones mouth right now. Just have a hard time spreading this game through word of mouth really.

All I know is that F.I.S.T. was a day one purchase for me and was the first and so far only game I ever did a let's play on. And, honestly, while it's a good game, I think Hollow Knight is a bit overrated. The sense of direction is one of the things I had a problem with that game, and it didn't really make itself clear where you were supposed to go compared to other metroidvania games.

Agreed. The game seemed keen to waste my time in a lot of ways and I couldn't stand it. It and similarly Ori really are not nearly as fun as I had hoped. I genuinely think the overwhelming praise for both stems from typical indie fawning for "art style" over what it is you're actually doing.
Fist, Axiom Verge 1, and Monster Boy put them to shame, if you ask me.

TrishaCat

The Cat in the FAF
Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (JRPG)
Fuga: Melodies of Steel (JRPG/tower defense)
Freedom Planet (sidescrolling action platformer)
OneShot (puzzle/walking sim)
Dust: An Elysian Tail (sidescrolling action platformer)
Mofumofu Sensen (fighting)
The Crown of Leaves (point & click adventure/visual novel)

Can't stress enough that you should look into Fuga if nothing else; the game is super accessible as its on basically every modern platform, and its a really good work of love that needs all the support it can get as it didn't turn a profit. Plus, if you try it and like it, a sequel is coming soon.

Baron Tredegar

Master of Forgotten Lore
The other Elder Scrolls games (Morrowind, Oblivion, Online)
Spirit of the North will be fun if you liked Lost Ember
Night in the Woods
Surprised no ones mentioned Spyro.

I figured people were trying to get the lesser known stuff out there. I'd be shocked if anyone in their 20's playing games hasn't heard of Spyro, Crash, Sonic, StarFox, and the other popular mascots tbh.

I forgot to represent Fuga: Melodies of Steel.
Like F.I.S.T it was one of those poorly advertised flops, but it's getting a continuation this year, somehow. Hopefully starring best girl Wappa :3
