Guilty Pleasure Show?

Impulse-8

That one guy.
Figured I'd ask this question as I'm bored and curious at the moment:
Do you happen to have a show you watch/watched a lot fairly frequently that you know isn't technically great but are entertained by anyways?

Mine would have to be the Pokemon anime, specifically, the first two seasons. Yeah, it's silly, stupid, often childish and nonsensical, has lots of recycled battle animations, and becomes very formulaic as the later episodes go by, but I stand by the first two seasons being "the most entertaining" because of how absolutely insane they were.

Giant explosions, unnaturally giant monsters occasionally causing havoc on islands or cities, one of the main kids dying and briefly hanging out with ghosts and screwing with his still-alive friends until his soul returns to his body, an entire ship getting sunk with the protagonists still in it trying to escape, an infant gets dropped out of a helicopter to be raised by monsters, a psychic girl turns the protagonists doll-sized to be terrorized by her, etc.

So, that's mine.

Family Guy, I guess? It took a serious nosedive after season 5-6 or so, and wasn't really that great to begin with (especially compared to South Park, which did similar thing for years with better results and without pandering to lowest common denominator), but makes for a good background noise, so yeah.

I would also say "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", but with all its weirdness, in actuality it's fantastic on every level - if anything, you should feel guilty for not watching it, lol.

I'd say I "officially" stopped watching Family Guy after the season with the episode where Peter was lost at sea and Brian got with Louis.
I noticed how aggressive and "preachy" the characters became, and I think that decreased my desire to keep up with the new episodes. Well, that and perhaps both school and the then-hot seventh generation of gaming (PS3, Xbox 360, etc.)

Not sure how guilty I should feel-I never watched Jojo.

I stopped watching it when it got old and stopped airing new episodes.

Mine's a show I'm certain nobody would have heard of. It's a British sitcom called Vicious and stars Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as an elderly gay couple who just snipe at each other the whole time (it also has the actor who played Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones). I know it's a bit rubbish but I just find McKellen and Jacobi's cattiness really endearing, a pair of old queens who always insult but deeply love each other.

Right now I'm very excited about season 3 of Rick and Morty. I saw the first episode last week and it looks better than ever. If you haven't seen it you need to watch it, like back to the future meets and adventure land and easily the smartest thing on tv right now. Wubalubadubdub, I'm tiny Rick!!!!

Welp, I more or less mentioned that jokingly, but yeah, it's a pretty great show. It has a crapton of random elements to it, from benevolent techno-nazies to time-stopping Bowie-sque vampires, but unlike most other "LULRANDOM" shows that exploit weirdness for sake of weirdness, this one actually has a lot of consistency, developed characters and very strong writing to it, not to mention high production value. It's the series that can show you some ridiculous over-the-top crap one moment and a serious, touching scene the next one, and actually succeed at that, all while playing itself seriously and avoiding the "parody" element of Rick & Morty or BoJack Horseman.

My guilty pleasure would have to be random and strange music videos that I find. Stuff like this

Jojo is bloody weird and at times downright messed up, but I will give it merit that it's otherwise oddly entertaining.

i only really watch three shows sorta? atm it's the new pokemon sumo anime which i actually rly love (even tho most hate it, it's my favourite)
but my fave show (despite having watched every episode at least ten times minimum) is merlin which i always treat myself to an episode to as a reward for getting shit done or something

then i like to binge watch kitchen nightmares short clips on youtube, if that counts as a show

I've only seen the first two episodes of SM so far. It looks a LOT more expressive and silly than the Gen. 6 seasons were, actually makes those older seasons (Outside of some battles and later XYZ episodes) look dull in comparison.

Can't say I have a favorite side character yet, or Pokémon.

yeah! i personally like the animation style bc it's a lot softer to look at if that makes sense, it's easier on the eyes - and it's definitely sillier haha
my faves are honestly just good old jessie and james (and gladion if he ever decides to make a proper appearance ofc)

Not a "show" exactly but a subgenre of YouTube videos called YouTube Poop Music Videos (or YTPMVs for short). The best remixers and video makers come up with strange visuals that border on homoerotic but that just adds to the WTF charm. That and the obligatory My Little Pony YTPMV. i don't even watch the show (anymore) but i love what some of the brony fandom has cooked up in recent years.

And yes, i watch them for the visuals as well as the music.
i spend waste hours of every day watching these things when i should be doing my taxes.

Ah, yes. YouTube Poop.
Where there's smoke, they pinch back.
Figured I'd put this here.

MLP? What's that show like?

it's legitimately a good show, even for adults. At least it doesn't pander hard enough to the little girl crowd to make your eyes roll. Half the episodes are written about as well as your average sitcom with a hefty dose of sugar and cheese. Later seasons have LOTS of references to the (adult) fandom by canonizing and nodding to fan-canon, appropriately naming previously-no-name ponies with fan-given names, canonizing fan-ships, etc. Pretty revolutionary for a modern girls' cartoon. i stopped watching simply because i don't have cable or any other means of watching it. i also have *AHEM* who work on the show, others are knee-deep in the fandom and yadda yadda yadda it was too much for me to keep investing time into it.

i LOVE the fandom (ironically, more than the show itself) and a lot of the fanart but for the most part, i stopped watching the show. i think i'm 3 or 4 seasons behind at this point. if you're willing to give the show a try, be my guest, but it's a hit-or-miss affair, depending on what episodes you watch. The show was designed and written by the staff of 'Foster's Home for imaginary Friends' and other big cartoon hits. There are dozens of lists of "Bestest Poony Episoodes Evar!!1!" videos on YouTube but i'm not about to stand by any particular list. it all depends on what you're looking for in a show.

Me, i'm content with YTPMVs and other edits...

I tried it when I was younger and it was alright, but the fandom of it made me gag more than anything. Still though, I will say that I enjoyed some of the youtuber songs like Alex S

But for real though, Ghost is an alright radio host and I enjoy his talk shows

The Tomorrow People, first series. (Not that horrid new one!)

Just the credits are enough to lure me in...though I mainly just like the first two seasons.

It's like a teen Dr. Who...and I must have one of those silver suits! Pleasures really don't get much guiltier.

Mountain Monsters. It's one of those "monster/ghosthunting reality shows" you see on declined "edicational" TV channels nowadays, but this one is so stupidly over the top, you can't help but laugh. Instead of "douchebags running around with cameras and overreacting at everything", there are "rednecks running around with rifles and trying to shoot everything", and "mystery" part of it is taken to JoJo-like extremes, with corpses and magical powers everywhere. I have little doubts this show was done as some kind of "stealth parody" - it's like they understand how dumb the whole "hunting monsters in real life" premise is, and are just trying to have as much fun as possible with it, all while keeping straight faces.

Even though I am about to turn 18 soon, I still have a slight obsession with things like Minecraft and classic 8-bit games.

I guess I've just never really been a big enough fan for the current whole new generation of gaming.
