Genuinely curious. I’m an energy drink kind of guy because pre gives me the jitters, but I wonder what others use and if it’s made a difference with your performance

Energy drinks are crap. Have a large glass of water and some chocolate milk for energy. Wait 1/2 hour or so, and drink more water during the workout.

Pre workout. My uncle's used to work as a personal trainer and that's what he says

I used to take a pre workout protein powder with skim milk when I was working out, I haven't been in a couple of years, but now that I'm home and we have a planet fitness 5 min from home I might start going again

Are we moomin, or are we dancer?
I just have a normal breakfast before I do my exercise.

At the moment it consists of callisthenics, and a 2 mile run before work in the morning.
I used to lift a 5kg and 12kg weight, but I have not bought any weights since I relocated to the US. I have replaced that exercise with a mixture of push-ups and 1 handed push-ups that I do after work.
These are the results I achieve: https://forums.furaffinity.net/threads/fighting-fit-to-squash-the-pathowogen.1669824/page-7

Consuming very large amounts of protein or caffeine before exercise is probably not a good idea. Systemically consuming too much protein can damage kidneys.
Doing too much exercise can cause the spontaneous breakdown of muscle tissue, which can also cause damage to your kidneys.

I made homemade protein shakes, but that's not really pre-workout.
Other than that, I agree with Fallow. Energy drinks especially dont't seem like they would give much benefit unless you've made yourself reliant on caffeine.
