Definately not, never really got into the Nu-Metal scene since most of it was unoriginal bands who recycled riffs for pop/rock audiences. Other than SOAD the genre hopefully will die out but sadly an entirely worse genre has been conceived and has taken their place... Deathcore.
*prepares for scene-kid shitstorm"
EDIT: Also starting to get into DT, Metropolis, Pt. 2 is a symphony of progmetal.
IMO Slipknot was pretty original since they were one of the first really "brutal" nu-metal-ish band that came out in the mid to late 90s (started in 95 I believe), and since ive heard 'Psycosocial', 'duality' and 'Before I Forget' to name a few, Ive considered them to be alright. Its their personalities, the heaviness of their music and live performances that really drawn me in though. RIP SID Wilson....
Bands like Korn though, Ive never really liked/got into. Sure theyre catchy (pop-metal), but they fail to fully utilize the seven string ibanez's that Steve Vai gave the 90s, technically, in my opinion.
"If you cant properly utilize a seven string guitar, just tune down a six string"- Mick Thompson and Jim Root
Nah, no scene-kid shitstorm, its just opinions.
Forgot to add, Symphony X is a pretty badass band.
